DIY: 6th Gen *LX/DX/CX/HX* to* EX* Exhaust Conversion
Information gathered by myself and from other sources. Compiled into one, easy to follow DIY. Please note though that this write-up is for replacing your ENTIRE exhaust system, from manifold to tailpipe.

DIY: 6th Gen LX/DX/CX/HX to EX Exhaust Conversion
Information gathered by myself and from other sources. Compiled into one, easy to follow DIY. Please note though that this write-up is for replacing your ENTIRE exhaust system, from manifold to tailpipe.

Items Needed:
EX header/exhaust manifold
EX catalytic converter
O2 sensor extension wire harness/kit
EX aftermarket catback exhaust
Additional gaskets (exhaust manifold & cat to exhaust - if not provided with your NEW equipment)
Additional hardware (if not provided with your NEW equipment)

Introduction
Looking to install a newer, stronger, aftermarket header on your 6th Gen LX/DX/CX/HX Civic and wanting to open up your engine bay a bit more? Perhaps upgrade your entire exhaust system to something with a little more breathing room? In this DIY, I'll explain how to convert your exhaust to the EX system and the parts you will need.

LX/DX/CX/HX Exhaust Layout:

The headers that are made for 6th generation Civics are only made for EX models. The EX is considered to have a "normal" manifold as the catalytic converter is located under the body of the car, not inside the bay near the block. You'll notice with your LX/DX/CX/HX model Civic, the catalytic converter is located visibly from the bay, just after the start of your manifold.

EX Exhaust Layout:

Step 1: Install the NEW EX header.
Step 2: Install your NEW catalytic converter directly to the end of your newly installed header. You may be able to reuse your spring loaded bolts from your previous install. If not, stop by either (a) your local hardware store and pick-up some new 3" long 14mm grade 8 bolts with 1.5" washers and matching nuts. Be sure to reapply the spring from your previous setup. You can bolt it straight on without if you like but the springs are there to ease the tension from your header as your car moves/vibrates. (b) Stop by or order replacement spring-loaded bolts from a Honda retailer. (c) Hit-up your local junk-yard or pick-n-pull.
Step 3: Install your O2 sensor wire extension harness. The new primary is located in about the same area as your previous setup but your new secondary will be further below your car onto the BACK of your new catalytic converter.
Step 4: Install your NEW EX exhaust system onto the back of your newly installed catalytic converter.
Step 5: Enjoy!

Ok so I started with my civic bare stock and not running. After about 3 weeks of diagnosing, it turned out to be the fuel pump, regulator, and injectors. It's still only running on 3 cylinders. Working on that. After a new plasti-dip Paintjob ( soon to be gloss) , I added a front and rear lip kit and a ricey wing ( which I have sold ).
Added a new hi-flow exhaust and new 10.2 mm NGK spark plug wires. Also upgraded to 17" StreetEdition rims and tires. Bought 2" lowered springs, but have yet to install them. Also haved blacked out the tails and painted the rims black. I am working on cleaning the car up, but it is a slow process.

Having a bit of a problem here new to site but maybe some one can help. I have 91 civic hb, dohc zc swap with what appears to b zc trans / si. Running 90/93 integra axles , what a lot of people say to do, have only had the car for a week or so, got it from a buddy. Problem is is that theses axles appear to b too short because they pull apart at the cv joints. Now I've seen and heard a lot of different things but most said those axles should b correct. In my case wrong, but also stock axles for 91 civic don't work due to the trans side is to small on the spindle teeth. And ideas before I gotta go deep pocket for custom axle???? Help please

I'm about to purchase a Blackworks 3 Point Strut Bar and need a little guidance on how to install this into my 97 Civic HX.

Below is the picture of inside my bay (for now). And below that, the picture of the strut bar being purchased. When I looked at my bay, I couldn't see where that 3rd point would attach to on my car. I see one bolt sticking out but something is connected to it. The other possible hole is temporarily covered with a light piece of plastic. Like a clip covering a temporary hole. Is this potential hole what I would mount the 3rd point to? Well, that one and the one being used?

By the way, in the first image, I drew in the Strut Bar where it would go (obviously) and pointed out the two spots in question. I actually popped out the little white plug in the first "?" and there is indeed a hole there but it almost doesn't seem flush with the second "?". The one that has something attached to it already.

Thanks guys for your help in advance. If you need anymore info, I'll be more than glad to provide it.
