what up guys , i just did my 2000 si b16 swap into my 98 ek and i tried ripping it for the first time yest but it wont let me go past like 7100 RPMS , if im not wrong the redline for a 2000 si b16 is like 8000 RPMS so any of you know whats going on, sorry for the noob question, this is my first swap

what ecu are you using? sounds like either wrong ecu or something isnt hooked up correctly

and you don't have an ek, you have an ej

im using the 2000 Si ecu and i have a 1998 honda ex , i mean vtec is kicking in at 5700 were is suppose to but it just wont let me past like 7100RPMS

well is it second staging at 62/6300? if not you wired something wrong

vtec comes in at 5500, when you get to 62/6300 rpm is where it makes peak power.... it also sounds like there is a "second stage" if it never reaches this point then there may be some issues.. mine wasn't doing it for a while but it was just a vss going bad, would drop me out at 6.2-7k

ohhhh i see, well is definitely not second staging, all i hear is the vtec cross over at around 5700 RPMs n like i said before it wont let me past 7100Rpms so anyone else have any ideas?

the things that come to my mind is knock sensor (but vtec still works) oil pressure, or temp.. but those are just shots in the dark

Any CEL's? What harness are you using? 99-00 Si engine harness? Or are you using the stock 96-98 harness, with a OBD2b to OBD2a jumper harness?

im guessing im using the SI harness because i didnt buy a jumper harness for the guy that helped me do the swap , and nope i been riding the car for 600 miles n i havent had any CEL codes come up so yeh i dontknow whats going on

ok i found the problem i THINK , i thought the guy had put in the 99si computer i had given him but for some reason he didnt and he put my old d16y8 pc , but the weird thing is that my pc is P2T and i did my reasearch and is an ob2b , so my question is , would thi s computer work with it or no? by the way my motor is a 99si motor

ok if its teh y8 ecu.. it could be chipped? a correct ECU for teh b16a2 is a P2T I believe... look it up here

a y8 is a single cam so no it won't work, but a P2T will work, it may be an obds -obd1 converter cable that is letting it work in your car... I'm kinda confused by the question(s)
