Default SecureLight: World's First Customizable Visual Anti-Theft Device

Hi guys,

I would like to introduce our newest product, called SecureLight. SecureLight is an electroluminescent badge which lights up when your car’s ignition is switched off.

The bright pulsating light not only serves to inform people that your car is equipped with a state-of-the-art alarm system, it will deter would-be-car thieves from attempting to break into your vehicle.

SecureLight works with or without an alarm system. The flashing sequence is controlled by the included inverter, you do not need to install any additional components.

Hook it up to your car alarm system, or if you don't have one installed you can also connect it your fusebox, and you are good to go. SecureLight also comes with a switch which allows you to turn off SecureLight (usefull when you go on a long trip)

To make it look more unique, the surface of the SecureLight can be customized to reflect the type of vehicle you drive, your vehicle number plate and even the backlight color can be changed to match your vehicle color.

Price: USD29.00 (inclusive of panel, inverter, wiring & double-sided tape)
Securelight Panel Size: 8.5cm x 6cm (lighted area)

Free shipping for ClubCivic.com members (enter code CC0010 at checkout)

People are afraid of the unknown. Thats what SecureLight is all about, its suppose to trick would-be-thieves into thinking your car has a high-end alarm system installed. Electroluminescent is an expensive technology, if you can afford it, chances are you can also afford a highend alarm system. And so far I haven't had any complaints from buyers.

I've already had my car stolen 2 times. As much as I would love to say this would help, my 'expensive alarm system' didn't seem to do the trick the 2nd time. *shrugs* Cool idea for sure though.

I am really sorry to hear that.

I think the point of installing the SecureLigh is not to prevent thief's from stealing your car but rather to discourage them (or instill doubt in their mind) and hopefully they will go for another easier target. I think they are two reasons why people buy our product, 1) As an anti-theft device & 2) because it looks cool, some of the designs I have made have nothing to do with security (I don't think a thief will be intimidated by the Decepticons logo!)

BTW I would be really grateful if anyone could provide a case study on the effectiveness of anti-theft devices.

Just came across the Arizona Auto Theft Study article. To save you guys the trouble of reading through the whole article, I have extracted the most interesting part:-

Quote:
Both the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) and AATA, in their public awareness programs, have emphasized what is known as a “Layered Approach” to protection. In other words, the more layers of protection on a vehicle, the more difficult it is to steal.

They recommend four layers of protection:

• Common sense – removing keys from the ignition, locking doors and closing windows, and parking in well-lit areas.

Warning devices – audible alarms, steering wheel/brake pedal lock, wheel/tire locks, theft deterrent decals, identification markers in or on vehicle, window etching.

• Immobilizing devices – Smart keys, fuse cut-offs, kill switches, as well as starter, fuel, or ignition disablers.

• Tracking devices – Devices that use Global Positioning Systems (GPS).
