Question New to this site :) Need some advice/opinions

Hey guys, I just joined today and I'm looking for some advice/opinions on HIDs. I just bought my Civic SI Mugen edition a few months ago and I'm starting to do some mods before Honda Day. I'm trying to buy the HID conversion kit and I'm not sure which brightness to go with. I really don't want anything more blue/brighter than the stock S2000s and TLs. I believe those come stock around 4300K. My car buddy says I should get 8000K and I think that is going to look extremely ricer. Has anyone done the HID conversion and have an opinion?

IMO, don't get plug and play HID's. Why? Read this: http://www.clubcivic.com/board/showthread.php?t=208090

4300 gives the most light output. 8k will look ricey IMO. I have 6k's and with a retrofit, it definitely stands apart from 4300 and has a more blue/purple cut off.

I have HID conversion in my EJ1 with HID for Hi and Lo beam.....My low beam is 10,000k and are more on the blue side, my Hi beams are 8000k and are definately white compared to the low beams. I personally dont think either look too "ricey" but if u want to stay away from going too blue go with the 6000k or 8000k! If u live where it rains a lot or is real foggy dont go with the 10,000k Blue or 12,000k purple cuz all the moisture in the air will reflect and "absorb" those colors which in turn makes your lights seem dimmer.

One other thing, if your changing any of your halogen bulbs (parking, turn, brake, reverse light) to LED go with Minimum 8000k HID's if u want the colors to look the same, I found that 6000k HID bulbs look more white, than super white leds which still have that slight 8000k ice blue look to them.

eBay projectors aren't that great from what I've read. The general output sucks. Plus using HID's in high beams isn't the greatest idea. Unless you live in the middle of no where, constantly flicking HID's on and off is horrible for the ballast and bulbs, especially when they are cold.

OP - get true retrofits. The most popular retrofit is the Mini H1 (which is what I have). They're widely used on all makes and models and are literally plug and play projectors.

Say no to rice; 4300 or 6000 are best and will look good w/ your color.

I'm pretty sure I'm going with the 6k. Do any of y'all know where I can get oem projector parts to retrofit? Or which ones would even go with my car? Would I have to get them from a salvage yard? And how do you keep them from getting water in the ballasts?
