Default hey guys problem solving time,

Right ive a 92 - 95 civic with the JDM D15B Engine, all sems fine but when she is heavly ragged which happens at times she blows blue smoke,

it only seems to happen within the 6000 - 8000 rev range.

its just failed its MOT on emmissions which im very pissed about but obviously now is the time to sort it out.

ive no idea on what to look for...and how to fix it but if people want to point me in the right direction its very much appreciated.

Cheers guys for the help i really need it

does it blow blue smoke at all rpm's? or just under the 6 to 8k range. I don't know what your doing taking that engine up to 8k but that could be your problem, redline on d15b is 7200 my friend. You should check your compression ratio and possible think about a new set of rings and vavle seals, as well as valve guides. If your blowing large amounts of blue and white smoke, head gasket could be faulty, those 1.5's are notorious for head gasket failures. Compression test should let you know what's going on.

yea man...that engine should not be up to 8k rpm's. thats a piston waiting to blow through your hood. My friend had the same problem with his D15B JDM motor. It could possibly be the head gasket. But first, you might be better off checking your basics first. (I.E: dizzy, spark plugs (spaced properly), fuel filter, oil, wires, etc.) If not, go to the Head gasket. more than likely you got a cracked gasket. If you are burning oil however, that could also be due to the head gasket, or bad piston rings. good luck man.

thats weird then guys, on the dials the redline comes in at 8000.....

your prob right it shouldnt be taken that high, it only blows blue smoke between 6 - 8k

is it even worth fixing or should i just get it through the MOT and then sell up?...

would it be more costly than it is worth?

well f***ing s***, DUH lol....

blue smoke-oil entering cylinder and burning with fuel. Usualy seen in high mialage motors. Your pistons and/or rings are fried
