are you looking for a way to lighten the pics up?
if so, i know a few pretty kickass ways that dont lessen the quality

i found a proggie awhile ago that cleans up the noise.... cleanit or something like that

it looks like you turned up the saturation too much to me....

an easy way to lighten the pic without loosing the quality that much at all is to duplicate a layer, then change the layer style - blending options to from normal to screen.

then keep duplicating the layer untill it gets light enough for you.

from there you can adjust the colors and all to get where you desire it.

thanks for all the comments

todd, i did your duplicate layer--normal to screen thing and came up with this

it's a little too light but it helped with the pic quality

This is my take on it. Just got done too. Too about an hour and a half to get the shading right on the railroad sign. :)
Yours look pretty good. I would only check the quality level, and from those pics, what camera do you have?
Mine only has 1.2 MP, so, I ain't even frontin! And that's REAL!
