Default New head unit wont turn on

I bought a new head unit for my car yesterday, i didnt have much money so i went with the best i could find for under $200 Alpine CDE-9843, i bought the harness for it and did all the wiring myself, the wires all match up and theres even power running through it. But when its all connected and the faceplate is on it wont turn on. i read the manual and everything is done right.

any ideas? or should i just take it back and have it looked at/ get a new one.

check all the fuses, sometimes 2 or 3 fuses can control the important wires to your deck. u might have touched a wire to a wire and not noticed

might not be it, but some alpine you have to press the source button.. you probably already did that. if so, most likely it's defective.

first check your fuses, then take the radio back where you bought it and have them test it.

With all of the head units that I have delt with there are three wires that you have toi have connected in order for it to turn on. The power wire, the ground, and the memory wire. I know that this isnt the right way to test it but this is what I do if it wont turn on. I take the head unit out of the car up to the battery in my car and I hold the ground to the negitive pole and I hold the memory and the power wire to the positive pole if it does not turn on then you know that the radio is defective if it does turn on then you know that the wiring is messed up or you have a blown fuse.

that is all I can think of. Or just take it back and get a new on installed for you.

Did you get it to work or what? Did you check the fuse under the hood, dash, and on the back of the radio? Did you use a DMM to see if you were getting power to the radio? If you bought it some where like Best Buy why not have them install it for free?
