What up, Just want to know what you all think. A STI with Intake, BOV, Downpipe, Exhaust vs a LSVTEC 5th gen coupe with a I/H/E ect... and minor weight reduction who do you think would win either from a roll or a dig and both are good drivers?

he said with I/H/E...

and an STi with an exhaust will be over the 300 mark, not to mention its AWD...its gonna take more than a N/A b18...

yes, this may be true if it was in an ariel atom. That would be a whole different story though. Not doubting the power of an lsvtec, but really hard to beat a boosted car with awd that has been proven for years and years.

STi for sure... but the comment about a gutted 1700lb hatch... the example is a 5th gen coupe with minor weight reduction (I'm guessing seats?), which I don't think could get down to 1700 lbs either. Won't a stock coupe weigh at least 2200 lbs and a hatch weigh at least 2100 lbs? That's a lot of weight to lose, and the interior doesn't really weigh much anyway.

Jason and I tried to make a very rough list of what could be lightened up and how much those parts being removed or replaced could save:

40 - rear seats
20 - front pass
30 - interior, misc.
20 - cf hood
10 - cf hatch/trunk
20 - gutted cf doors
10 - cf fenders
30 - plexiglass

So about 180 lbs or so. Rough of course.

The lightest 5th gen chassis' are the 92-93 CX and VX hatches at 2094 lbs. So yea, it wouldn't make it to 1700 with just minor weight reduction.

LS/Vtec if built right might be able to hit a high 12 second if the coupe is light enough and depending on how he built the bottom and top end. But the STI will probably be in the mid 12 range. I dont know if it would be as bad as some people say. Heres a vid of a fast ass STI vs. a LS/Vtec turbo coupe(11.9 on slicks) and another semi built STI....

It may keep up at a roll. but then again, probably not. STi would win unless he had to take a dump or something..

ahahha, just HAHAHAAHAA....i think a STI with 24" spinners would still beat it.

Maybe just maybe, keep within a car length or 10 with a rolling start, but NO way he will win off the line.

If a 5th gen LS/vtec coupe with only I/H/E ever beats an STi:

The Civic owner needs to wake up and apologize
or
The STi owner needs to relenquish ownership of his vehicle to someone who can drive.

redline instead of printing the thread out and showing the guy, find someone with an sti and make urself some money.

Or that ^^ is just what the guys wants. If I was a sneaky bastard and had an lsvtec that was built and has some nitrous, and wanted to make some money, I would go around saying i could beat such and such car with my stock ls vtec, and put some money down and confuse some people.

or another better one, is your "stock" boosted d series, and you throw a 2.5 bar map in side the original denso one, and "look the stock map sensor, that only goes to 11 psi" lol i would enjoy messing with people. too bad my cars not ls vtec or boosted....

I drove this LS/VTEC I have to say its real fucking quick, 1st when VTEC hits you break traction. He ran real low 14's at the track with a bad tranny.
