motor wasn't blow when i picked it up.....it wasn't in good shape at all though. I was gonna rebuild it, but it blew in less than a week at 40 mph. I was expecting to fix it all anyway, so i wasn't sweatin' it. It was a pretty good deal, plus i didnt want payments on another car. Just came out of a 05 DC5 type S.

I knew it as soon as i checked out the car before buying it. Then i took it to my mechanic for confirmation . I didnt have the money to fix it and build it then, so i drove it the way it was.

Hey Child, what service were you in? If I remember correctly you were in the military. What happend to the coupe?

yeah I was in the Air Force. I got out in '05. Did my time and im done. I miss the money, but could care less for everything else. My 99 coupe actually got repossessed after i got out. Life was a lil rough at first.

The potential and the price is what made me buy the car =) And thats basically what im looking to do to the car. Interior is great too, carpet is just a lil messed up. I'm kinda spoiled now from my old civic and the rsx-s' so i guess thats why the lil things bother me with this car.

oh yeah, still got them Takatas too =) I couldn't let em go. I wont put em in until I have a race seat though

well the car has sat like this for quite awhile after driving home one night and leaking all my oil killing my LS engine. Started to neglect it after while and nearly gave up on it, but its about time to spend some money again. Car is at the shop finally awaiting a B16A from hmotorsonline so in a week or two ill actually get back to modding.

Being picked up monday morning for $1000 and taken straight to the shop for the JDM B16A swap. Major damage, beat up passenger side fender and ripple in the hood, minor damage, chipped and faded old paint and a small rust spot. Other than that, you couldn't find a more untouched 94 coupe! FInally found a ride that hasnt been in the hands of a tuner or ricer.

CHILD
12-03-2008, 03:40 AM
Just been using some glass cleaner, a small space heater and a razor blade. Once you get the tint off, spray more glass cleaner or soapy water and scrape with a razor blade and the residue comes off pretty easy. Be careful of your defroster lines on the back window

UGH the madness. Well i received my B16A from hmotorsonline.com and it wasn't passing a leakdown and compression test, so the motor was returned and i sought after a GSR. No luck with that and i just needed to get the car running and settled for a B18B1 swap with a GSR transmission. Has a piece of crap dented 4-2-1 header on it, and since my chassis is a DX i had to get my exhaust modified to fit with the header.

[background info]My brother picked up the car from the shop when i got the call that my car was ready since i had to work, and he doesn't really know what to look for or checkout so of course he accepted it just by seeing that it was running. Once i checked it out, i found all my issues that need to be dealt with. Like im pretty sure i shouldn't be able to see my flywheel, the POS header is bent all to hell, and my driver side axle is duct taped!

CHILD
01-14-2009, 02:44 PM
they're just full of shit over there. They through this setup together and claim they will contact me when they have a gsr to swap in to make up for my time and money spent on the B16A. I dont believe em, so im just fixing this ls longblock to make it daily driveable and i'll either boost it or find my own gsr longblock to swap in. I would have done the work myself so that i wouldnt have to trust someone with it, but with the neighborhood i live in, we aren't allowed to do any automotive work and they are strict as hell here.

I was at a Walmart near Mexico, like a literal 15 minute drive away, and found some 300 watt Sony 6 1/2's for 50 bucks (normally like 120) so i scooped em up.

from these

to these...The sound quality is awesome, and the magnet is large so the back of the plastic speaker holder has to be cut out in order to fit these.

Drag Dr20 wheels in 15x7 +40 offset with Hankook Ventus 195-50's ordered. Was gonna go with 205's but ive heard some people having rubbing issues and some not. Figured i dont want to risk it.

I need to know the stock catalytic converter length for an EX or Si so that i can put one in and have it fit proper with my header and apexi WS exhaust i plan on getting. There's no way im paying 400-600 for an OEM one and all the aftermarket ones are different lengths but say they are for the same model

I just might do that for the time being. I will for sure be replacing the front bumper at some point in time before a complete paint job.

Im not sure yet. The engine bays paint is in great condition, even the clearcoat is still good. Im planning to repaint the car the factory color so im not sure how far off the new paint vs the old good condtion paint will be. It will probably just come down to the cost of shooting the bay.

Its just a regular spray can of a dark silver mettalic and then i cleared it with clear effects or some crap like that. Its just a clear coat with crazy mettalics in it. All autozone cans. I primed it with engine enamel primer to stand up to the high heat.

first off, the steelies that came on the car had less than bad tread, i even posted a picture to show that. So wheels were needed asap and i dont have a couple grand i can pull out my ass for the wheels i want right now. So it would have been stupid to drop the car first.

buddy club N+ are my first choice for coilovers. This isnt a track car, its a daily driven project.

and for the exhaust ill be using an Apex'i WS II. I dont need the extra decibles while i drive. 60mm piping is 60mm piping. ;)

*At running temperature the car is so quiet, and driving with the WS2 is like having an OEM exhaust system. You hear your engine when you rev rather than an exhaust note while inside the car. From the outside the exhaust is similar to something like a rsx-s stock exhaust. Has a little bit of deep tone to it but nothing that jumps out at you. On to the pics for the non-readers

If you ever take your climate control out the cable can get stuck on a certain position. That happened to me a couple times, I could only pull the cable up to 2. Now if your climate control still hits 1, 2, 3 and 4 but only blows on a few of them, then I would have to say something is clogged or most likely something electrical. But who needs heat and a heater core? Just pull it all out and do a brake line tuck :P

Beautiful Fiance Mr.Childs, rather stunning progress on the vehicle! Yeah I back clicked it!!! Are you going to paint it in it's entirety silver? That would be very dope, because Silver is rarely seen, especially on a coupe. Judging by your selection of parts & methods of assembly I think Silver is the perfect "CLEAN" color to compliment this car.

I plan to get it repainted frost white. the interior is going to be the factory gray panels with buddy club buckets in black and gray. the silver paint blends in pretty good and has sort of a bare metal look.

Are you keeping the interior gutted? Why not paint the exterior the matching color then? Personally I think it would look wack with the gutted silver interior and white exterior. The gut/paint looks good though, reminds me of my hatch.

CHILD

yes im keeping it gutted. ill eventually put in a buddy club bucket seat and my takatas when i get around to it.

the silver interior paint flows well with the all gray interior thats in the car, and will still match with the gray and black buckets when they are in. Thats the same silver thats sprayed onto the block, transmission, and tower bar. I dont care about following the crowd and having my gutted interior matched with the exterior. when im driving all i see is gray and black, when i get out, all i see is white.

I can now vouch for hmotorsonline.com.........they live up to the hype. Motor arrived super bubble wrapped and foam wrapped strapped down tight. All sensors intact and the motor is clean as hell! You could rub anywhere bare handed and not get a thing on your hands. *i tried :) Only bad thing is the alternator belt. its hella frayed. But that was expected anyway.

Me and my brother have decided to attempt an install ourselves. Ive already had local shop horror stories with the beginning of this build. So this weekend we're getting down and dirty. here's some quick engine shots i did after working 12 hours.

i bought the one listed as "direct fit" for my car, a 95 dx. The univeral ones need flanges welded onto them in order to fit. I figured id save myself the hassle and get the direct fit. its slightly more expensive but worth it IMO.
