Ok, first id like to say whats up to everybody on this site, i just recently came from honda-tech as u can see from my noob status but i dont consider myself to much of a noob about cars even tho this questoin might make me one, neway, im doin a swap this summer, and im lookin into a LS so i can turbo it later on, maybe a b16a im not to sure but leanin towards the LS, anyway, what is the differnce between regualar b16's or LS's and long block versions of these motors, they seem to have the same specs but the the prices are completly different, hm motors online, Ls complete swap somwhere around 2200, long block swap somwhere around 800 whats the difference?
ps. ive searched, (not that much of a noob) but have found nuthin

well there are HUGE differences between the 2
b16a has a shorter stroke, has a FAR superior R/S but due to its shorter stroke it only displaces 1.6l
b18a/b has a longer stroke which gives it a shittier R/S but due to its long stroke design it displaces 1.8l
the b16a is built more for high revs and peak power more then anything the b18a/b is the opposite, low to mid range power is where it does the best, that is just the tip of the iceberg..........

a full swap is just that- a full swap. it includes everything needed to put the motor into your car. a long block is just the motor itself, no tranny, no shift linkage, etc. short block is just t he bottom end of the motor, no head.

aight well i looked into it sommore and i found i can get a b16a long block for 900 it comes with Motor
- Intake Manifold
- Exhaust Manifold
- Injectors
- Fuel Rail
- Throttle body
- Alternator
- Distributor
now i know that my tranny will bolt up to this motor, i have a 95 dx coupe will my other stuff bolt up too? what all would i need to complete the swap, i know of ecu, wiring harness, and axles anything else?? I think if i do it this way i will come out cheaper than just buying the full swap for 2250 what do you guys think?

you should get one of the following trannies
B16a
B18c1
B18c5
B16b
any of those will be good for you, you will need a wiring harness ECU, you should upgrade suspension and brakes as well
