starting a new thread to follow my new project Si hatch. hopefully it will end up better than my Del-Sol project that i had to scrap early. :???:

to start off, i traded an automatic DA integra to aquire the hatch...
here's some pics of the teggy.

i got the Si from my good friend who had unfortunatly had the car stolen from him while it waited for paint :( it was found on the side of the road in Deltona months later surprisingly in decent shape. the theives took his rear disks, which they replaced with drums, his 1st gen RSR ex mag catback, Sir2 spoiler, new OEM hood, fold out dvd player and system, cluster, chipped ecu, msd 6al, some interior pieces, and his AEM intake. weird thing is, they left his rims, and the built D16 in it!

here are pics of the hatch the way it was left, and the way i recieved it.

http://img504.imageshack.us/img504/545/008uh7.jpg

the hood they put on it is all beat up...

http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/1624/002sy6.jpg

the wheels the left on the car, along with the tokico blues and tokico springs.
http://img504.imageshack.us/img504/498/003bt6.jpg

the sunroof glass was taken (possibly how they got into the car since the doors were untouched)
http://img504.imageshack.us/img504/2386/004mp5.jpg

interior they pulled apart, but left in decent shape.
http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/8715/006aq8.jpg

the motor they left in it is a fully built D16. eagle H-beams, SRP 11:1 pistons, gude ported head/ intake mani/ throttle body and ground cam, crower valvesprings, AEM cam gear, and DC sports 4-1 header.

okay, ive been hella busy with the new house and work and getting the car done and legal... here's some updates.

7-14-08

http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/8090/001qz9.jpg
power window wiring complete.

http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/1654/003uq1.jpg
wing painted satin black and installed

http://img399.imageshack.us/img399/1720/002fk2.jpg
installed new Z6 dizzy

7-26-08

and with all that said and done... it was complete! i then needed to get the title in my name, and fill out the "rebuildable title" paperwork, and provide reciepts of EVERY part i used to fix the car... it was a pain in the ass.
anyways heres some pics of it "complete".

ill probably take a little photo shoot sometime (if i have any spare time).

thanks bro! wire tuck might get done if i get my other D-series built and installed... ;)

What kinda numbers that n/a d16 puttin' down?

lol, nothin impressive i can tell you. if it were actually tuned it would be much better... or if i had nitrous, but im debating building my other D and dropping it in.

ahh, the color is always brought up! i absolutly......... HATE it! lol
its actually candy red over a red base coat, so its impossible to match. ill have to re-spray the whole car to make it look right.

Update 12-17-08

well, bad news. last saturday i was driving to meet up with some friends, when my motor suddenly and un-expectedly dies wile slowing for a red light at about 45MPH. i attempt to re-start it with no luck, and push it off the road.
we towed it back to my house on sunday, and i start looking it over... decide to pull the plugs and find this
http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/1406/phonepix002ba8.jpg

yeah... no good. so i get some new plugs and attempt to start it. nothing, keep looking. i take a look at my dizzy and its all good, then look at my AEM cam gear...:(
its maxxed out at -22* timing. Apparently whoever installed it never thread locked the adjustment bolts and they vibrated loose causing the gear to move freely.
So my motor is trashed, and im scraping together what money and parts i have layin around to build my spare D16.

awesome man! ill definatly keep that in mind when im tearing into my backup motor. i was actually going to get ahold of you soon and see if you had done a write-up on the PS elimination, and if you had figured out a home made kit/ solution.

12-17-2008, 10:41 PM
Hah. Actually, I have. I ended up just using high pressure fuel line/hose, hose clamps, and vacuum connectors. Since theres no pump producing high pressure in the lines, rubber lines should suffice. Might look into doing it with brake lines and fittings. Might be abit more permanent.

BTW, that is not how you do body work, maybe when I was 15, but you'd be amazed what doing it right would do for problems down the road. I see a lot of sand scratches, "butt holes", and all other problems coming back. And laquer primer is really gonna enhance any problems you were gonna have with a 2k urethane primer. And filler doesn't go over paint, not much adhesion on it compared to metal. But to a large percentage of people with paint jobs, they want them cheap, and have simple tastes.

Dang, just read through the thread and your whole story. Awesome build!

SO sorry to hear about the bolts loosening up on the cam gear. That stinks man!

But hey, I believe everything happens for a reason, and that you will learn more from the process with
getting to build up the D16. Hopefully, you'll have a better outcome with the new engine in the end.

Body work is looking good. Have you considered Maaco?

Also, one of the things I would do differently if I could turn back the hands of time:

Go to Autozone and buy some Duplicolor paint that matches well enough for the door jams. While you have the whole car stripped and BEFORE you take it for exterior paint, go ahead and prime and paint the jams. Except for going to car shows, NO ONE will notice you didn't use the exact same paint to paint the jams, I'm sure. So, you could save yourself some money and TIME by doing the jams now. Once done, just close the doors and sand off any excess over-spray paint from the exterior before taking it to the paint shop. EASY and fast. Just a thought man! I'm sure many will disagree with this, and I totally understand why, as it certainly won't look A+ or show quality. But hey, for a DD, it should be cool.

Good luck with the build!!

I'm sure many will disagree with this, and I totally understand why, as it certainly won't look A+ or show quality. But hey, for a DD, it should be cool.

Good luck with the build!!

thanks for the comment!

as for body work and paint... im doing it with the help of my buddy. might match the jams... depends on the color i choose in the end...;)

Nice! You're going boost right?

well, my final compression ratio will be around 11.4:1 so no boost for me...

although, i was thinkin when i get my Z6 head built and ported, it will lower the compression to about 10.6... so maybe ill put together a turbo kit and run low boost. we'll see.

just a comparison of my DynaTech header vs. the old DC sports one...

notice the nice long and straight primaries on my DyanTech header compaired to the DC sport one.
the shiny jet hot coat finish on the DynaTech is much more durable than the ceramic DC sports finish
http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/199/header005ag0.jpg

another angle.
http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/1732/header001df4.jpg

this is the inside merge collector of the DC sport. un-even and restrictive. 2 of the cylinders air flow runs into a wall!
http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/2575/header003ix8.jpg

better shot of it...
http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/2116/header004ew6.jpg

and the merge collector on the DynaTech. much nicer! way less restriction, and even flow for all cylinders!

You'll love the pedal feel with the GSR MC, i went to an ITR 1" mc and it made the braking feel 100x better.

Also, look into an s2k master cylinder for your clutch MC, another great upgrade for our civics.

Car looks good man, im usually not fond of the candy reds but it flows really well with your setup!

no pump anymore bro! thats what the loop is for. it lets the fluid in the rack travel from one side to the other without the pumps pressure aiding it. ;)

well, let me say first that the bodywork is very important for any paint to look good.

my buddy and i sprayed it using a HVLP gun and some old satin black automotive paint he had sitting around.
this would be simular to what i sprayed http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1-Gal-Ready-Spray-Rat-Rod-Satin-Black-Auto-Paint-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem1e62e92770QQitemZ13050 8466032QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccesso ries#ht_656wt_1165
