I just bought a 1990 Civic DX Sedan and it has automatic seatbelts. The drivers side belt works fine but the passenger side is stuck in the open position and the dash light keeps flashing and beeping when I'm driving. I tried pulling the bracket manually into the closed position so that I could at least buckle the belt and release it manually everytime instead of having it open automatically everytime. It wasn't easy to slide it into the closed position but I got it and thought everything would be good, but when I turned the car on the dash light was still going off. And what annoyed me was that when I turned the car back off, the bracket moved back into the open position automatically. Why would it move back to the open positon but not into the closed position? I checked all fuses, took apart the cover on the door and tested the wires going to the seatbelt assembly and everything is getting power. If I can't get it back to 100% what can I do to get the dam light and beeping to come off?

I have a 91 lx and had the same problem... but what I did was take off the fuse but no from the ones below the steering wheel but the ones on the engine.. the one for the hazards work for the beeping sound too... I took it off and that damn sound is gone but I dot have hazard lights anymore I got to get this fixed too... good luck let me know how that goes..

I was searching through the forum to see if there was anything related to this and I found one example of disabling the seatbelt light by disconnecting a wire in the center console that goes to the seatbelts when installing racing seats with a four point harness. The only thing is that I'm not sure if it's talking about the console where the shifter is or where the radio is. I'll take a look and see if I can figure it out. Anyone know exactly which wire and where this was refering to?

Thanks for the suggestion. I would try your method but I'm trying to get the car inspected and it won't pass if the hazards don't work.
