Ok. I'm lookin at a B16A SiR I motor that as far as I understand has 160 hp and a little over 110 lb/ft torque, for about $1800. This motor would pretty much just drop right into my 89 hatchback, and be a peice of cake.
Now, I've also been looking at a B18C GSR motor that has 180 and 128 lb/ft of torque, and with all the driveshafts, shifter conversion to cable, distributor, and axles it will cost about $3200.
I'm wondering if there is any X factor type reasons why I should go with the B18 over the B16, when really its a matter of 20 hp and 18 lb/ft of torque for about $1400 more.. not to mention the trouble i will have to go through converting to obd1 vs the simplicity of the b16a being obd0.
Is one more "rev happy" or is one more durable than the other? What are the pro's and con's of each motor?
Please I need help deciding. If the b18c gsr is going to be worth it, then I will go that route, but the extra $1400 i could save on buying the b16a i could take and throw twords some extra goodies.

maybe think about the age of the motors, and the mileage on them.. the b16 you are talking about, probably the obd0 one, right? and the b18, obd1-obd2...
id get the b16, save some money

As far the X factor that you're looking for, the only real issue I see is the age of the swaps. This may not be that much of an issue for you, for some I think it is. I haven't looked, and not completely knowledgeable on this, do they offer the B16A with an LSD transmission? If they do I would go for the B16 w/LSD and use the extra pocket change for a set of coilovers or something that will ensure you get the most from your swap.

be aware that if you purchase a complete B16A changeover from someone like Hmotorsonline, like this:
http://hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc2000search.cgi?what=page&item=30002
you will still need to purchase a mount kit, shift linkage and axles - the mounts, linkage and axles that come with those swaps will not fit in the 88-91 USDM ED chassis
better off just getting the engine, transmission and ECU like this:
http://hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc2000search.cgi?what=page&item=30001
the only thing that you could use that you wouldn't get with the second option is the intermediate shaft - essentially, you would be paying $249 for an intermediate shaft - take that and add a little to it and get the LSD transmission

the OBD0 B16 ECU has a speed limiter and an electrionic speed sensor.. limits at 105mph..
the B18C can use any USDM GSR ECU which does not have a limiter....
the B18 can make more power when turboed stock as opposed to the B16.
the B16 has oil squirters.
the GSR is a good motor.. the B16 is a good motor... both have thier differences... the differences only appear later when you decide on what else you want to do with it.
the largest issue is the OBD0 speed limiter.
convert to OBD1 or standalone.. and this issue goes away.

wow, thanks guys.. yeah all this information is what i was looking for. The kind of stuff they dont explain before you buy whatever your looking at.
I'm just trying to keep the dissapointment and frustration to a minimum at this point. Theres been so much already dealing with this car lol..
I was really just trying to avoid having to do all the obd0-obd1 or obd2 conversions, because it seems like it is the biggest pain in the a double s out of the whole project.
The more info i get though, the more i really just wanna get the b16b

But btw, if you haven't noticed gsr's are way over priced. B/c everyone wants one of them. B16's are gay. Been around a lot of B's plenty to know I don't want to get rid of my shit for one ever. Its better than a D, that's it.
