How much will it cost for a new engine

so my engine has had some insues and my freind said that i should probably just replace my engine and i was just wondering how much it will cost me to replace the engine the main goal is to sell it at the end so im looking to do it as cheap as posibble is have a 1997 2 door EX with the d16y8

like 2-500 depending where you get it from. d-swaps are cheap and very easy with a buddy.

if you just need a motor nothing else, you may be able to get a long block for under 200. or get a short block and assuming the head on your motor is fine you can swap that over. short blocks ive seen from 50-175 around.
