is it difficult?

From what Ive heard. Unless you have the D15b ECU to go along w/the engine. I know there was somebody here on CC that was working on it in their Civic. Dont remember the name tho. He has a CGP coupe tho....

that's what I thought. So there is no "stage 3 vtec". Its the same a z6. I did this swap before. I used a P28 and it worked perfectly

I blew my y8 and dropped a d15b also. Its a good motor and all but i wish i had dropped soemthing bigger... Like a B series. Ya know. DOHC is pretty nice. It more expensive though.

Not really if you know what you gotta do to wire it properly. You can do what i did and use and rpm activated switch to wire it to the first solenoid then have it tuned with a p28 to change the fuel maps for where you set that rpm switch to open up then just have a regular top end but thats gonna be your best bet. Just never run it on the p2p like i did, it runs horrible on it. But you dont have the obd2 version based on your pics

Few ways, one is checking the location of the dipstick, if its between the exhaust manifold its the obd1 version. Along with only one vtec solenoid and a black valve cover that says vtec on it.
However it seems owner before you switched it with an obd2 valve cover.
The biggest way to see if you have a 3 stage vtec motor is by having 2 vtec solenoids and having the dipstick located in front of the timing belt cover

3 stage vtec came in HX's..

Wrong info actually
The hx's came with a d16y5 and only had vtec-e which is a gas saver that runs the motor in 12v mode It has like 115hp and no vtec on the top end
The d15b's came in the civic vti and ferio's and never were made in the us. The obd1 version is almost exactly the same as the d16z6 and the obd2 motor was Honda's one of a kind. Same power output but has vtec-e on the bottom end so when tuned properly it can get over 50 mpg's but still makes more top end power then the y8 or even the z6

the dipstick was inbetween the exhaust manifold, and the original valve cover said VTEC. im pretty sure its obd1 because i had to change out the oil pump to get the crank position sensor to work. i will have to run it on p2p while i get my new ecu. I got a big problem though, the car doesnt start it just cranks and i cant figure out whats wrong with it. its really starting to get to me :x

Then you have the obd1 version def.
And im sorry you have to run it on a p2p. Why dont you just run it on a p28? I have the obd2 version and it runs amazing on the p28
You can get them at local junkyards or off of ebay and a conversion harness for cheap also. I got mine for 40, and if your lucky you can find a p28 for as little as 40-50 also

well i found out what was wrong, the distributor wont spark, do you guys know what other distributors are compatible with the D15b because the Y8 one wont bolt on. the reason im going to run the p2p is because im on a budget for now but i will get the p28 soon.

Yeah its not gonna bolt up. Grab a z6 (d16z6 if u didnt know) dizzy and it will bolt right up. As for the p2p, im not even sure it will run that motor without a shit ton of cel codes. Trust me, try and find a way to run it on the p28 because at least with it being an obd1 motor that p28 even tho tech the d15b needs the p08 it will run it great cause there almost the exact same engine.

If you found a way to make it work i guess go for it..i just dont know if that p2p will even run that motor based on how it barely runs my d15 obd2 motor

junkyard is your best bet, and you will almost never find a d15b dizzy. But in all honesty the d15b and d16z6 are the same, goodluck

p2j ecu is obd2 but as you've already ordered the p28..your still gonna need a conversion harness

If you still need help hooking up the stage 3 talk to 97greenex. He got his to work but I don't remember what exactly he did to get it working. He's a nice guy.
