So earlier this year i wrecked my ef hatch it wasnt the nicest hatch but i loved it and put all my money into it well whatever money i had, being unemployed and all

So i pulled the motor and bought a db2 shell and put it in but never liked it as much as my old hatch

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w104/sr91240/integra1.jpg

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w104/sr91240/tegbay.jpg

Well now i got a decent paying job idecided its time to make a new and improved version of my old hatch i picked up this hatch for the low low price of FREE it needs some body work, some paint, some interior, and a motor but you cant beat it its virtually rust free and i got it for free

Paint the bay
Do a mild rebuild on my old b18c and drop it in
Type r trans
All new suspension bushings, ball joints and wheel bearings
Crx dash
Jdm front
Do all the body work
Repaint it the same color red or something similar

thanks alot man!

Well I ordered oem Honda valve guides today and they should be here Thursday, I also get paid Thursday so whenever I get the guides the head will be going into the machine shop to get some work done (disassembled, completely cleaned/degreased, port and polish, combustion chamber reworking, port matching the intake manifold, valve job, resurfacing/milling and getting all the new shit put in). I'll also prob start prepping the bay this weekend and working on the brakes and suspension and all that good stuff (weather pending) lol

hondatuner18
03-13-2010, 02:01 PM
Well I got my guides in and took it to the machine shop it SHOULD be done today but I don't get paid till Thursday so I won't be able to get it till then, I also began to tear the car down (more) and started shaving brackets and planned on getting alot done today but the damn weather ruined it. I may rebuild my knuckles today of I can use my friends press today. Pics will be up when I get a chance

kyle10182
03-13-2010, 03:58 PM
so you're planning on using a hydro trans? what mounts?

you should look into finding a '92-93 ls transmission case and putting ITR gears in it.

hondatuner18
03-13-2010, 05:01 PM
Well that was the plan but I picked up an extremely fresh jdm 98 spec itr trans with the 4.785 final drive but I don't even wanna touch it lol but idk I haven't decided yet

and idk about mounts how did you like the hasports with your b series?

kyle10182
03-13-2010, 06:21 PM
i've always liked Hasport mounts, but the stupid transmission conversion brackets never seemed to work well for me. I always found it best to stick with the cable transmission in these cars. that's why i made that suggestion.

you could also search up and down for an 91-92 XSi LSD trans. if you don't wanna take anything apart.

hondatuner18
03-13-2010, 06:38 PM
Yeah that's what I had before but the trans was trash I'm thinking of trying the innovative kit I heard good things about it but the design doesn't look as good. Or maybe try that pedal conversion you/steve had but try to improve the design by straightening the bracket/master cylinder

03-13-2010, 08:18 PM
im liking the build man. its seems like you have a good grasp on what you want. how much did you end up droping on the head work, if you dont ming me asking. got any plans for the block and body???

hondatuner18
03-13-2010, 09:49 PM
I haven't completely paid for the head work yet but I'm guessing around $1200 for all the labor I put $500 down so far and I should know how much more I owe next week. As for the bottom end I'm gonna do 81.5mm bore and like 12.5:1 compression pistons and some rods and acl bearings and stuff. The body I'm gonna do all the body work and a core support and maybe a jdm front and paint it a color similar to the color now

well i had the innovative kit, and the pedal conversion. didn't like either. but i think using a larger clutch line like -4AN. but i don't like removing the heat duct on the drivers side.

yeah I agree but I'm not completely decided yet I'd like to not touch the trans but we'll see

http://automobiles.honda.com/images/2010/element/configurations/base-cars/RE_ex4wd_34FRONT.png

always liked this color.

yeah I was looking at that color either that or the color that the newer chevy trailblazers come in it's a nice looking dark red

Still got the ZC?

yeah I do it's for sale on honda-tech in the mid-Atlantic section I'm looking to get $150 for everything

****UPDATE****

Well the hatch ended up needing alot more then I thought it had frame damage and bondo everywhere and I decided just to get rid of it but I picked up another shell for pretty cheap and it's pretty damn fresh. It came with a 6 point cage, a brand new b series shift linkage with a new skunk 2 shifter and es bushings, a brand new conversion harness, new skunk2 drag coilovers with spax rear struts, new earls braided brake lines all around, integra rear discs, new drilled and slotted rotors and new pads all around, extended studs in the front and brand new spc rear toe and camber adjusters. It has absolutely no rust and the paint is kinda fresh but I'll prob repaint it.

I regret taking off my a/c.... this is gonna be the 1st summer w/o one and I dont think I can go the whole summer w/o it. At least all I took off was the condensor and the 'tubes' in the engine bay, everything under the dash is still there.... btw, nice work you've been doing OP

05-17-2010, 05:59 PM
Thanks alot everyone and I'm sure it would be cool to have a/c but I honestly never use it even in cars I drive everyday that's what windows are for lol

plans for the next week or so: (weather pending)

finish welding in the bay and begin to prep it for paint
disassemble the short block and get it to the machine shop
order seat rails
order tps
sending out the tb and im to maxbore once the new tps comes in
finish head light harness tuck
painting the roll cage eventually lol then putting the interior in

Wow this thread is dead, sorry guys I've been slacking and got off track with the build. I don't have many updates besides my block is fresh from the machine shop, it's been bored, resurfaced and hot tanked it's awaiting bearing clearance measurement and fresh Honda bearings. The rotating assembly has also been balanced and the crank has been micro polished. I bought paint for the engine bay which I am just about done prepping. oh yeah and I also finally got my header after a 2 month wait

I've been working tons of hours lately also and haven't had time to work on it but the bay is getting there, it needs a little more prep and it'll be ready for paint

whats sealing those holes up? are they welded shut?

hondatuner18
10-14-2010, 07:25 PM
Yeah its all welded and also have 3m panel bond on them to seal them and for extra strength, the little holes were welded shut and have a thin layer of body filler. I used evercoat metal glaze body filler which is very good quality but kinda pricey (for body filler)

mymmeryloss
10-14-2010, 07:36 PM
lookin real good. i like evercoat myself, but its not the strongest filler...

i wouldve used long and strong or something in flex areas..

kyle10182
10-14-2010, 07:37 PM
i like it a lot. i like how the plates are recessed in a little. looks a lot better, more natural, to me then when everything is flush.

So whats your plan? how are you gonna tuck the a/c lines now?

hondatuner18
10-14-2010, 08:01 PM
I like the evercoat also but I didn't use too much of it just thin layers really so I think it should hold up well, I've never heard of that other stuff, I do know the evercoat was a pain in the ass to sand all the excess off, it seems pretty damn strong. And yeah Kyle I like the look where it's not completely flat, as for the ac lines I'll tuck those by throwing them in the garbage

hondatuner18

Yeah it'll definitely work on a boosted car it sits kinda in the core support. I've seen pics of them on boosted cars, check out the site it's allinfab.com and check him out on Facebook. The owners name is Derek and he does awesome work and can fab up just about anything you'd need. The radiator usually goes for $425 plus whatever the cost of modifying the coolant outlet.

OMG dude soooo sick!!!

So I am dissapointed though.... You are building this SICK build, and a TON on things like the harness, but why not paint things like your ITR mani? Just a respray of silver, and your dizzy why not polish it up??? I mean this sick of a bay with dirty parts :/ ? Not hating, just noticing! lol

Man that thing is so sick though, I can't want to get my build going more, I am going to be doing the milspec from chase bays and they have the rad too now but I will check out that other site....

So what did you drop the Sedan on? Looks sick for now but can't wait to see the hatchy lol

So earlier this year i wrecked my ef hatch it wasnt the nicest hatch but i loved it and put all my money into it well whatever money i had, being unemployed and all

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w104/sr91240/SL370068.jpg

So i pulled the motor and bought a db2 shell and put it in but never liked it as much as my old hatch

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w104/sr91240/tegbay.jpg

Well now i got a decent paying job idecided its time to make a new and improved version of my old hatch i picked up this hatch for the low low price of FREE it needs some body work, some paint, some interior, and a motor but you cant beat it its virtually rust free and i got it for free

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w104/sr91240/before013.jpg
Theres the front bumper and dash and well everything else

My plans are:

Shave and tuck the bay
Brake line tuck
Paint the bay
Do a mild rebuild on my old b18c and drop it in
Type r trans
All new suspension bushings, ball joints and wheel bearings
Crx dash
Jdm front
Do all the body work
Repaint it the same color red or something similar
D2 coilovers or koni gc (something that lets me go as low as i want)
Some nice low offset wheels maybe some white work meisters or dunlop cp-r's if i find an offset i like
and alot more stay tuned

Why you have a black hood in your car? Thats annoyin
Thank you

Thanks alot man

Why you have a black hood in your car? Thats annoyin
Thank you

Well I don't have any hood "in" my car and if you would read I don't currently own any of those vehicles, the teal hatch had a black hood because I traded my cf hood for his black hood plus cash, the da came with no frontend on it and I found that hood at a junkyard, the maroon hatch came with the black front end but the car was junked. If you actually read the contents of the thread you would see that I bought a new hatch which is all paint matched as well as the 4 door that I own. Thanks for the input...

Nice hatch man, I just bought one myself as my project car. I hope to put a GSR or Type R in it, as soon as I get the funds.
