Good pick up. Get rid of the hood though.

Get 1piece headlights and these tail-lights:
http://content.dealerconnection.com/vfs/dealers/B6245/1984-mustang.gif

Make sure your car didn't come with the premium sound system, if it did, just run your own speaker wires, otherwise you'll be running into issues with the factory amp.

If you want better front brakes, get a pair of brand new Lincoln Mark 7 front calipers, they cost me 14 dollars a piece. They have the bigger 73mm pistons, are a direct bolt on, no modifications necessary. Get Steeda pads.

Thunderbird Super coupe rear disks will work in the rear, bolt ons, very little modification needed.

Electric fans and better radiator will do you good as well. Get a new thermostat, a 180 degree one will do fine.

I had trouble installing new carpet in my Camaro. It was molded, but not cut. That was the biggest pain in the ass ever. Oh and also because I didnt find out until later that they sent me the carpet for an 82-92 Camaro and mine was a 96. Fucking ebay

looks so nice man really really really clean car, how much did you get it for btw?

$3300 for the car itself..

car ran pretty shitty.. took about $175 to get it running well (plugs, wires, etc..)... came with wing and hood.. the other stuff was added after.. this is a pretty good deal imo, since the hood alone before paint is like $600, the wing is like $300 unpainted.... and im about to get about $300 for the rims and tires that came with the car.. so I am really happy.. the rims and tires cost me another $1100.. and the seats and rails were about $1200.. headlights carpet and new floor mats all totaled out to a little under $500..

Clean inside and out!

did you expect any less.. ;)

suprised to see an auto

otherwise nice fox body

going to drag race the car.. a LOT.. plan is to build up a solid auto trans with a shift kit.. i will essentially be shifting the car with a ratchet shifter.. no clutch.. this set up is inherently more consistent.. this will be coupled with nitrous.. i like to just take races.. and it is to my advantage to know EXACTLY what the car will run.. thats all.. it was a move based on being consistent.. kind of off topic.. but i have given consideration to eventually build another one.. but one more geared to handling.. no nitrous.. that would be stick.. I am really liking RWD and torque.. I can see how it would be fun to drive with different tires and shit.. i can not cut huge sharp corners with a 10.5 rear hoosier and skinnys up front.. LOL

thanks though.. and thanks to everyone else regarding the pics..

torque coupled with RWD is really fun.. I just need to make some more power and change out the gears... the tire is more than the car needs as it sits.. but pretty sure im going to spray it... spray.. shift kit... and gears... should put those tires to use.. thanks for the compliment.. the intent was to build a muscle car right along the same lines as the civic.. simple clean.. only difference is I am really only concerned with straight line speed in this car..

It looks really clean. You should pick up a Sparco wheel to go with the seats and replace the clunky stock one.

maybe down the road.. i like having cruise control.. lol but i do dislike the stock wheel.. so ill have to see..

I think the REAR wheels are the right size

probably wont change out the suspension for a while.. but would like to come down a hair in the front..

Looks great! I got a 1990 lx hatch mustang 5.0 with 4.30 gears, full exhaust with no cats, and a 100 wet shot of nitrous. Its 5-spd and is a blast to drive! Runs low 12's at 110 mph and cost me a total of $3800.00 Fox mustangs r cheap, easy to work on, and crazy fast with just a few mods. I still love my hondas but they cant compare to my stang! Spray that bitch and put some 3.73 or 4.10 gears!

looking at 4.10s

vjf915
05-11-2010, 04:50 PM
Thats going to cut down your gas mileage considerably. Also going to suck if you do a lot of highway driving. 4.10 is a pretty high gear for ANY kind of DDing also. Im not that familiar with Ford's possibility of gearing sizes, but I think something in the mid 3's will still allow for decent power.

with it being an overdrive equipped trans i hear that 4.10s are pretty reasonable in that car..

Skimmed through the pics; didn't read much of the thread except the specs on the new motor. Sounds like you're going to have a beast under that hood and the car is looking great as well!

My buddy is running a 302 in his Monte Carlo with built aluminum heads, "mild" cam (which I don't know wtf that means but it makes the dogs and cats bark throughout the neighborhood), and other bolt ons. He's making around 500/700; it's just too bad his MC is like 6000+ pounds luls. I can only imagine how much quicker your car is going to be with that motor in a foxbody!

I wanted a coupe at first.. but honestly once I got the hatch it grew on me.. it's funny I never end up with the body I want.. with the civic I wanted a hatch.. got a coupe.. learned to love it.. with the mustang wanted a notch and ended up with a hatch.. lol

to be fairly honest I didnt care that much..

torque check
horsepower check
rear wheel drive check
loud and obnoxious check

lol In my head I wanted a notch.. but once I really got into it, a straight clean car was more important given my goals..

so far it has been true to Mustang form.. I have owned it approximately 8 months.. and it has been running for about 5 or 6 of those months.. LOL

ha its been a LONG time.. we have some catching up to do... I even have some "news"

do you plan on buying a beater dd while you build this car up some? I only ask because you plan to build the trans and im sure your mpg arent 1.6 non vtec numbers ha

maybe a pickup or something... I don't really car about mpg because to be honest I don't really drive all that much...

project is on hold till after the holidays..

I have decided to do it "right the first time" getting new radiator.. mounts.. etc... so the small project has grown a lot larger.. lol

Sweet!

Two quick questions- Are you having the same Amish folks wire up your nitrous that did the civic? And this time will you replace the timing belt or in this case, chain?

no.. but I will give you an infraction for the signature that is too large.. and ideally you will continue to be a smart ass.. and I can eventually just ban you.. thus not having to listen to you again.. ;)

if you annoy me.. I will annoy you back.. if you annoy me enough I will simply make you go away.. I will win.. every time.. I don't know why you have a hard on for me.. but I suggest you lose it...

thanks.. :D

see the image was deleted.. and unfortunately the image they replaced it with is just too big..
