Just purchased my car a few months ago from a 17 year old aspiring mechanic/racer/ expert and already started many projects that were done sooooo poorly
Had to make the car "mine". First two things that I did immediately was peeling the (I <3 Haters) sticker from the windshield. I was afraid someone would have stopped me on the way home from the transaction and challenged me to a rap battle of sorts. Also I had tear out the white trash black bandanna used with electrical/ duct tape to replace the OEM leather shift boot..
Silliness aside I have four (4) problems with my car
1. What I really need help with is restoring the shine and pop that the black paint lost. The roof has the worse damage, oxidation, water spots, swirls and scuffs, and light scratches probably from frozen ice. When you rub your finger over the paint it doesn't have that smooth waxed up feeling, more like your are just rubbing metal.
2. The car was keyed along the driver side and "surprise surprise" not fixed by a professional so it looks shotty, but is only really noticeably in bright sunlight from certain angles.
3. For the car in general it never appears clean, even after the second day after a wash. Water spots on the car are in some cases permanent. Dirt sticks to everything, and my windshield will always be fifthy the next day, FYI I use Rain X Glass Cleaner and Microfiber clothes
4. In several spots there are very very tiny dings and dents, maybe golf ball sized but not deep at all.
SOOOOO CLUB CIVIC any suggestions???

I was embarrassed to drive the less than 5 miles with this sticker in my windshield. :word:

This was exactly how I purchased the car, he must have sold his "fresh" rims and put cheap steel rims with no hubcaps just to sell a car that rolls.
In this picture the headlights look terribly oxidized, i bought one of those restoration kits with the different creams, and grits of sandpaper, new halogen lamps, now my lights look clear, and illuminate the road.

if it were just small spots i could see repairing it but looks like your going to need a complete respray. you can try and wetsand the whole car and the buff the hell out of it but at this point i think its just gonna need to all be resprayed.

I was expecting a lot worst. lol
Doesnt look too bad, apart from all the scratches.
The rear bumper gap, thats a easy one to fix.. I saw a write up on it a few weeks ago. I'll post it if i can find it.

I purchased 3M Rubbing Compound and I am going to try it first using a buffer pad on my electric drill. Then follow with Meguire's Wax. And buff with microfiber towels.
If that does nothing I will have to consider everyone's advice

Anyone know what I would be quoted for a respray?
and I have never wet sanded a car before... difficulty level???

That would be great thanks... based on what I found when I removed the carpet due to a leaky trunk I have reason to believe the car was in a rear end accident. Which is why i think my bumper looks like that
I am not 100% sure, the vin number on all the parts match, but there was a hard putty type material that was used in the trunk along the joints and edges which looked like it was done by an amateur.

Pending the price and such. If I could find a place on Long Island that can fix the body.
i just brought a 93 looks exact condition im just gonna take a high grit and wet sand it and just get re sprayed

Can't afford it. The compound & wax job looks real good so far. I am doing the compound twice and then waxing it so its taking a long time.

My car got backed into and I got a new bumper installed at a body shop. The guy also wet sanded the key-ing mark that was all along the drivers side. Its visible but looks a lot better than before.

Yes but it was done professionally at a shop... he wet sanded on the keying marked areas which are barely noticeable now.
