I have a 91 civic and was planing on swaping engines and was looking at this one...ZC DOHC..... and found it for 650 wit tranny and ecu, from the same place my friend got his engine. Well I want to know if there's any major modifications I need to do like change the shift linkage or the axles or anything like that? Or if the engine will just fit right in to the car as it is? Any help would be great. Thanks.
This is the engine (http://alljapaneseengines.com/index.cfm?action=hmeresphomepage&doit=cartrespcarthomepage&catid=1&do=index&rand=82703597&dopre=false&pre=false&requesttimeout=500)

i have a 91 also and i was thinking about doing that until i got a spoon engine but the zc will fit right into your car you might have to get axles basically any d series tranny will fit on any d series motor so if you get it you will have absolutly no problem
peace
do you have a std, dx, or si, depending on which model you have there will be mods that need be done, so which model do you have so i can hive you an idea what you need to do it.

i was going to get that motor for my 91 si. it fits right in u shouldnt need to change axles but its a good idea too. those motors may not pass smog which is why i didnt get one. i just got the same engine the d16z6 im gonna get new timing gears and a manifold and throttle body.
if he gets a zc motor then he is need axles IF he has a std model unless he wants o keep the 4speed tranny which i believe is not a good idea personnally and there are plenty of otherthings that need be done on adx and std to use teh zc motor or any motor that has multi-point fuel injection.

I dont know if I have the std or dx but I do know I dont have the si. Is there a quick way to tell the two apart?. I just recently bought the car like 3 months ago, used and I wanted to get the b16a but dont have the money to do it right now. So I'm going to go with this one. But I am getting a 5 speed tranny and the ecu with the engine, so I will need new axles? cause the one's I got now are to a 4 speed tranny. I know I need to add two more fuel injectors but do I need to get a new shift linkage or not? And the axles where can I get them? Thanks.
if you have a4speed tranny then you have a std, for a zc your going to need the motor, tranny, axles, dx or si knuckles assembly, fuel injector resistor box, ecu, and will also have to modify your wiring harness to a multi point set up., i think that should be all, even though it's alot of parts it can still be done for cheap.

Ok I have the std model then, but what about the d16z6, where can I buy that with the tranny and everything for a good price?

at either a salvage yard, ebay, or auto auction, for this swap you still going to have to modify your wiring harness, need ecu, axle, tran, motor, atleast this wont require a motor mount kit either.

Ok now what about the radiator. Will I have to up grade that too or not? And if I get a pair of axles from a civic that had the d16z6 in it but was an automatic will them fit on a manual or not?

you can keep you current radiator, and since you said you have a std model you have to upgrade to either 88-91 dx or si axle and hubs setup, you can't use the 92-95 axle.

Ok but isnt the d16z6 a 92-95 engine? Wouldnt I have to use a 92-95 tranny and convert the car to a hydro tranny? or would I be able too use the 88-91 dx or si tranny for that engine?

it's a d-series motor so you can use any trans that comes form a d-series motor including a trans form the 88-91 models, you can use the 88-91 dx or si trans so you won't have to convert to hydro trans.

Ahhhh thats really good to hear, cause I can use the cable tranny with the d16z6 engine. So I just have to get the axles and the ecu right? And would axles from an automatic tranny fit the manual tranny?

yeah just use the axles from either a manual 88-91 si or dx, and trans also, along with switching out your hubs, so they fit the new axles.

Ok now iVe been looking on ebay for engines and that and they have a lot of the d16z6 heads rebuilt and stuff like that for minie me's. What are the blocks that they use to put that head on to make the minie me? Or is that just too much work for all that?
the z6 will fit on any d-series motor, wether it be d15 or d16, i'm not sure how much work it is, but some people like the mini me swap and think that it's a worth while swap.

So I would be able to put that head on my 1.5lt right now or whats the best block to do that with, with the d16z6 head? And Would I be able to keep the 4 speed tranny or have to get a 1.5lt block with the 5 speed tranny?
no matter which block you use it's going to be the best idea to use a 5speed trans

the dx has a 4 speed tranny too
the dx has a 4 speed tranny too
since when, not any U.S. model 88-91 civic has a 4speed manual trans except for the 88-91 std only, get educated.

well if i get it i got a four speed tranny i can get ill prolly just do that casue then im savin for my b18b.
me gettin b18a, go to pay for the rest of it next week, really you should get the b18a, it has a cable transm, which means less work to swap, and it's only obd1 which will make it easier to swap in.

the b18b1 in the 94-95 ls integras are obd1 but teh its the hydrolic trans. were u gettin ur b18a and how much?
a friend i went to school with works for his dad, he got me the motor, trans, ecu, harness, shift linkage, and axles all for 550.00, plus a hasport mount kit for 175.00, and then labor will run me 500.00, should be in next month.

oo i look for it but couldnt find it any were on the web. but the b18b is gonna be 650. »Motor
»Distributor
»Intake Manifold
»Exhaust Manifold
»Alternator
»A/C Power Steering Pump and then all the other stuff i got to get it its gonna come out pretty pricey but idk havent completely decided on the motor yet
yet i get all those parts with the motor also, it's still in the teg as we speak, we just picked it up yesterday from auction, it runs damn good though, so i get everything off the teg needed to swap in the motor, but they have to get the 88-89 teg ls axles however.

yea im lookin for that one now seen one seling by owner for 1500 but that sounds like it would be a lot less hassle.
go to a public auction, where you can get a wrecked car for 100.00, but has a perfect motor in it.

where can I get the mounts at?
for the zc motor you won't need mounts, but for the b-series you'll need a mount kit.
