Strut? or new suspension totally?

I'm working on my bro's 96 Honda Civic LX sedan and when were driving you can feel every bump and the nasty potholes in chicago. The other day I was driving in a 99 Pontaic Bonneville bone stock and it felt like I was riding on air. I was wondering if it was just my strut? or Could it be that I have to replace my struts/shocks/springs the whole ensamble. I was also wondering about Tokico...any of you guys buy gas shocks before? are they any good?

If it feels like it's dropping badly, it might be a good idea to get new struts.

99 Pontaic Bonneville has those huge springs if im not mistaking thats why it feels more cumfy. but usuauly gas struts wont make it as cumfy as stock.
