dangit, maybe i should get and exhaust, or rims or something...dont get me wrong, i LOVE the way my car looks, and even though the current muffler is kinda restrictive, i like the quiet ride, and the unassuming looks....but heres where everything backfires on me --- i get the sorriest cars always trying to race me!!! yes, i did get to race and beat a mustang and a rsx typeS, but the other 20 cars ive raced have been stock dx civics, saturn "twin cam", and mazda protoge's.... i had to go that ladies shop today where i bought the car, because she finally got my registration...her shop is at most a 5 minute drive from my college....in that 5 minutes i got revved on by a stock mazda 5 and a saturn with an exhaust and aem stickers all over it....of course i totally destroyed both of them, but did i have a choice? i dont want a bunch of punk kids running around telling all their friends they beat my hatchback, cause they used to do that in my Si (cause honestly, its not worth the gas to race them, their cars are nowhere near the level of performance as the hatch).... should i just bite the bullet and let them rev on me, or should i keep tearing them up?

just when i thought i was out, they pull me back in!!!!

it's not really biting the bullet if a wussy car wants to race you and you back down. It's probably more merciful lol. Just down race these guys and if your exhaust is too restrictive but you like the sleeper quiet thing than get like a stock looking performance exhaust.

Im sorry, but people who under estimate hatches these days are morons..there are soooo many fast hatches out there...now, I know you have a 2001 ITR motor in your car and I know you dont want to waste your gas on slower cars...What I would do is get some nice rims, exhaust and just keep your car looking sooo clean..You will get faster races that way and you will beat lot of them....just dont make your car look faster than it is...basically rice.....so some rims, ehaust would probably do the trick

when shit cars roll up to my 94 I just glare at them and keep driving...i don't race them because not only is it a waste of gas, as you pointed out, but I really don't want people knowing my car is all that fast....because the more you race these shit cars and kill them, the more the word is going to get around that you have serious mods to your car. thus defeating the purpose of having a "sleeper"

I love the sleeper look.

I still always have dumb ricers pull up next to me and want to race. I give it a little rev and let them hear the turbo and they usually back down.

I had a c5 vette pull up wanting to race. He thought it would be a quick easy kill, but i pulled on him hard. The look on his face after was great, he was like WTF just happened.

thats the best....the twin cam saturn that revved on me did the same thing....i didnt use vtec in first gear to be fare (still pulled ahead by 1 and a half lengths), but then when i did hit it in second and pulled several more car lengths, he slammed on the brakes....he rode by 5 minutes later with the look of awe on his face and gave me the peace sign

it turns out ill probbly have to get an exhaust, new wheels & tires anyways....i dont know if any of you have heard of the "One Lap" race, where a bunch of cars just drive from track to track across the U.S....anyways, a friend of mine is gonna borrow my car and enter it in the economy class...he entered last time in his wrx wagon, came in 12th out of 84 cars....thats coming up in like 6 months, so have to get the car ready....but about the weak cars reving on me, it hasnt happened much lately, but in the last week, 4 mustangs have tried racing me, 3 i beat, the other took off before i could get out of the parking lot of the restaraunt, but it was a v6, so i didnt bother chasing him down

Yeah my car could definitely be considered ricey, cause even with the minimal exterior mods and the muffler, it still has all stock components and god is it sloooooooowwww. My friend smoked me in his stock '91 Escort hatch, hahahahaha!! But he does have a stickshift anyway. =)

you can get, sort of a flap, that'll switch between a stock exhaust and maybe a strait pipe.

Basically you need to go find the races yourself. Seems to me that shitty cars are trying to race you, but you can go race a fast looking car anytime you want. Assuming he will race you, and not consider you a slow ass like the rest of the stock looking cars.

thats the best part about a sleeper and shows that all the extra crap that you put on the outside to make it look like it should be in a movie is a waste of money when it comes down to performance. it dont make a difference. sure you can say well then why does everybody but the car lips? they dont stand out like other kits they just and a few more curves to the car :naughty:
