k i was shopping around for radar and what not and still haven't decided so i just moved on to more important issues like where i'm gonna be installing the Radar... I'm going for a COMPLETE stealth install, but i still wanna have some useabity (if thats a word) of the device, and wanna be able to hear it when it goes off. I don't want anyone to be able to see it if they were peaking in through the windows (which are tinted anywayz) or even riding in the car and notl ooking for it. I took a pic of my dash and console area.

ALSO***, i took a pic of this thing that i found attached to the underboard under the steering wheel. Wtf was it for? I haven't followed the wires to see where they lead but then again i haven't had time to

looks like the thing where you plug into to test the ecu. The ECU input

I have mine mounted at the highest possible point on the windshield beside the rearview mirror. That is probably the best functional place for it. Radar works best when it is in the line of sight of where you are pointing. If the top of your windshield is tinted, it will be difficult to see. If you place it anywhere else in the dash or concealed, you dramatically reduce the range of the detector. Go to www.cobra.com and buy the hard wire connection for power. I ran mine along the top of the headliner, down the A pillar, through the side of the dash and right into the fuse box for a clean install. I ghetto rigged the positive to the accessory fuse and grounded it. That way, whenever I turn on/ off the car, so does the detector. I never take it down. It's a few years old so I don't even think people notice it or even care. It's a Uniden and I don't even think they make detectors any more. It's good to have. I can still glance up and see the display, but as you get used to your detector you remember the tones it makes and you don't need to really look at it anymore. Hope that helps. LMK if you need pics. I'll try to snap some, but it's pretty self explainatory.

It's a radar detector. A passive antenna. Not radar.

I had mine clipped to the bottom of the passenger visor.

oh, and that thing under the dash? Looks like the remnants of one of those "chip" anti-theft devices that I can defeat in 5 seconds.

your wiper switch is seriously crusty. That's nasty.

a good place to hide it is under the driver visor. u should be able to hear it and it wont be blocked by anything. the wires are easy to run all the way up there. when i had mine, i just had it sittin right behind me county sticker. it wasnt very visible there. then i got a ticket for it b/c some cops can detect it so my dad took it away. :-(

you sould put it as high as possible that will make it the most effective. if you are into hacking your car up put it in a cut out in the headliner, under the visor. dono that would seem pretty stealthy to me. and it would be "custome" too making it uber cool.

no that is not a data logger. besides its in a dx who would wast the time to put a data logger in that. no offense. i bet its something like a ghetto jet chip tho. teh car looks pretty stock tho. dont know what to tell you.

The best place to mount radar detetors is above the review mirror right where the headliner meets the front window. It will be able to dectect for police the best there plus it is hella clean...then just rewire it through the headliner and down the pillar into a power source. And my buddy had that same wire connector thing and he ad it wired so he could pull a chip out of it and the card would not work, put the chip back in and the car strarts right up!

So cuz its a dx its not worth it lol? no offense taken but u obviously should check out d-series.org. Some mean d series engines that could rip some b16 engines... i have the d16y7 engine..dunno why but i do...engines strong, only about 17k miles on it now..the shell on the other hand has about 123k miles on it...

Yep.

That's what I meant. And it's already been circumvented.

Or it's an interface for one of those "Tote the Note" lots where if you don't make your payment, you don't drive the car.

and that wiper switch is still nasty. :rolf:

Well if you want it 100% hideable then I recommend the pull out ashtray on your dash. That's where mine is mounted. The actual antennea to it is in the bumper while the actual detector itself (the part that you turn on and off and makes the beeps) is mounted inside my ashtray. It works pretty much 100% of the time and I've yet to have any problems with it. When I pull the ashtray out it's right there easy for me to see and mess with, and when I want to hide it I just push the tray in and you can't tell there's a detector in the car at all.

You will have to do some wiring through the dash though, so be prepared to do so if you choose to mount it like mine.

i like that idea the best. (next to my jdm idea)

it would be cool if you mounted in your ash tray area and cut away the tray of the ash tray drawer, then used some hinges and a clip to flip it down, close it up, concealable, manageable, and best of all -- just damn cool. also wire up some kind of small kill switch hidden off somewhere just incase you get pulled
