I am planning an EG (Coupe) project car in place of my current Acura DB1. Along with several other mods, my goal/desire is to shoehorn a complete RSX interior into my new EG. I want the full dash, console, seats & door panels. I have heard a few situations where this was done. To what extent and quality level, I don't know; nor do I know how much work was done. I have seen EG owners who have successfully and almost effortlessly swapped their dash and console for one of an Acura DC2. Does anyone have any idea what I am up against in my DC5 interior swap?

shoehorn is an understatement. and idk of a single person who has EFFORTLESSLY swapped a teg dash. hope you are good at wiring......

wiring won't be a problem for me. I am just concerned as to whether or not the DC5 dash and console will fit with minimal work

This is going to be more of a second car, or a car that I phase into. I am going to do everything at once, before I release her to the streets. On top of the interior swap, it is going to get a K24 motor with 6-speed transmission. Please, if you can find those pictures, that would be great. I have only heard of such an interior swap done, never have I actually seen it. I have seen a DC2 interior swap though.

the reason peope do the dc2 swap so easily is cause it has the same chasis... just like how the motors from the 94-00 tegs just drop right into 92-95 civics. doing a dash swap prolly wont be "minimal work" your best bet is just to buy the dash and try to do it. thats how we did mine, no searching on HT or how-tos. i just got the dash and did it.

I have never seen this done. I'm not doubting its can be, but with the converison to a newer chassi that has airbags, newer electrical systems, etc... and a COMPLETELY different interior shape.... it seems like it will be a bitch.

As far as the DC5 interior swap is concerned, I have only heard rumors on other forums. Never have I seen it done, just heard stories. With the extent of the modifications that I am planning to the EG, it would be a shame to settle for a stock EG or DC2 interior. I have seen pictures of a DC2 interior in an EG though.

I have seen the dc5 dash swap in a 96-00 civic. There are pics somewhere.

just FYI there was an article in honda-tuning magazine a few months back with a blue hatch and the guy put the RSX interior into it...doesnt give you a how to or anything but is proof that it can be done. in the article it said he went through a LOT of shit to get the wiring all working etc. it looked really nice, I particularly like the center console, it sits a lot higher than stock and gives it that corvette kinda look like ur sitting on the floor with a high console between seats....maybe look for that issue..

youve never driven a del sol before have you? thats what i loved about mine, you could rest your arm on the center console and just flip the shifter from gear to gear, it was so comfy.
theres some NASTY window gap and speaker overlap in the 4g

nope never drove a del sol, sounds cool though. I like that cock-pit kinda feel. my dad used to have a sheisty old vette and it wasnt anything special but it felt wrapped around you when you sat in it. my civic is like sitting on a phonebook lol

Sweet, that pic looks great. I am glad there is hope for my swap yet. I may be insertinig my foot im my mouth by saying this, but here it goes...if that swap was in an EK, shouldn't it be about the same level of work in an EG? From the outside, the two cars seem close enough that parts like that should be relatively interchangable...wiring excluded! Also, what am I up against to get the DC5 door panels on to...though I may settle for DC2 door panels

It appeared to me, by all of your reactions, that I am not the only one curious or interested in an interior swap like this. With further research on several other Honda forums, I got to the bottom of this. I spoke with an individual who did the same swap himself in his 4th or 5th gen. Civic. According to him, the width of the dash is perfect in an EG. The only struggle is in the depth of the dash. He said the dash stuck out far too much from the firewall, so he had to trim it down a couple of inches. This works best, because you can then shape the cut to the curvature of the original dash for a perfect/seemless fit. Also, when cutting down the dash, you loose the defroster vents. This didn't matter for him because he removed all ac/climate control. He said one can easially cut new holes for that though. One last thing, upon visual inspection, it appears as thought the dash hangs too low and restricts use of the pedals. According to him, he has had no problem with the pedal reach, and that it just LOOKS out of whack. I guess one could trim the bottom of the dash to for extra clearance. Otherwise, it seems pretty straight forward. I am deffinetly going to do this when I get my EG.

straight forward? i hardly doubt the wiring aspect will be straight forward.

After i finish my K24 swap, yes the wiring will be pretty straight forward. I have reason to believe that with both the motor and interior swap, the wiring will be easier than if I just did one.

are you one of those kids from the mtv show "sweet sixteen" bc ur 18 and ur gonna get a eg, ok no big deal there but the k24 swap and dc5 swap so soon together, that is kinda pushing it if its not just handed to you, but it would looks sweet and good luck if u do get it
