just browsing around vis's website and found thism the whole front end to a 92-95 hatch or 2d, thats some crazy weight reduction, but it'd be hard to make it street legal i guess, you would have to cut it to put headlights in, then since the whole front end is technically your "hood" ud have to make it flip up so you could work on ur car, but anyways it's not as expennsice as u may think, its 899 bux. just a neat little find that i thought id share.

I wonder how hard it is to actually make carbon fiber molds...
Maybe a buddy of mine and I will make some shit for my car this summer.

But aside from that I do not care for an entire CF front..I like just the hood too be CF

looks good, but definately not street legal...

btw, i don't believe this is made to "flip up" but rather to be physically removed from the chassis

How difficult would it be to cut the CF to install headlights? How much does this thing weigh? I know that 1 piece fiberglass front ends can easily be made street legal,. I just wish I knew about their CF counterparts.

no shit, we all knew this, plus he stated it in the original post. and i'm pretty sure it was designed for dragging and/or weight reduction, they could care less about legality, if your a dragger, you want this

You buy it in sheets (pre woven) and shape it Im pretty sure. Ive seen alot of homemade stuff for sale on the internet, theres this one guy that sells stuff for 'clipses that look SUPER high qual.

Its most likely not going to pass inspection even with headlights, doesnt it have to be a 5mph bumper? But then how would a regular carbon fiber bumper pass inspection...? Hrm. Just live in Louisianna, those retards just check your lights, horn, and brakes and give you a sticker.

Fiberglass is the way to go for dragging. Cheaper for one thing and can be as light. Not quite as strong, but that really doesn't come in to play. That is if you plan to do the entire front end. For just a hood then CF is a logical choice.

fiberglass would be more optimal... but cf has that shock factor to it... and it's not as bad when something goes wrong and u hit the wall lol

The people who buy cf sheets most likely have someone hooking them up or they work for a shop that can get it for them.

As for the 5mph bumper, that's underneath the front fascia. When you buy a fiberglass bumper, all you're really buying is a decorative cover. You still have your 5mph bumper.

Plus if I really want an inspection, I can go to a "lick and stick" station. I'm not sure if the one piece front end would be too much for them though. I don't think it should, since you see Jeeps with fiberglass one-pieces. I know you can cut fiberglass easily to add headlights though. I really don't know about cf.

All I'm saying is that they exist. I've seen fiberglass everything for Jeeps in catalogs. I didn't quite understand it either, but I guess they're for people who don't go on the trail ever. Anyway, the catalogs claim that you can cut out holes for headlights to make them street legal. I was just wondering if you can do the same with the one-piece cf front end that was posted at the beginning of this thread.

i bet you could, but then wouldnt you have threads everywhere around the cutout

That's exactly what my question is.

i'm sorry, but am i the only one who can get sick of to much CF, I mean I'm prolly the only dumb ass who would buy a CF hood and then paint the bastard - because quite frankly i don't think paint can weight that much anyways that's just me

some of us like the look of beautiful cf weave... but if i were ever to get cf fenders or whatnot, i'd paint it... i love my CGP more than i love CF

I like the difference in weight with the cf. I also like the sleeper look though. If I had cf, I'd probably paint it.
