Did anyone see the race with the civic and the RX7?

What idiot negogiated that last race at 4 lengths with no bottle? I mean, I know the RX7 was sandbagging, but at the same time, you are down 2 races, shit they usally give you the win to make it come down to the very end, and force the all out, 2-2, next winner takes all, balls to the wall race

I gotta agree with mavrick, the imports may get screwed, but it's because they don't know how to play the game.. The old timers come in, with good cars, and know how to play the game. If you noticed, most of the import owners that come on the show are in their 20s, and the other guys are in their 40s and 50s, they've played the game before.

the import owners on that show are all idiots, that's why they lose. The show isn't even about racing, the races are secondary to the arguing and deal making. If they introduced a set budget and you bring whatever you can build for that amount, THAT would be a show.

I agree that its about playing that game, but I wish they would give the imports a little respect, I mean these guys are bringing in 4cylinder cars and throwing down with V8s and they get no respect. We all know that a V8 should kill a 4cylinder everytime and thats where is comes down to playing the game, but i wish at some point one of them would go, "damn, thats only a 4 cylinder and they are running high 11s, but we have a V8 running middle 10s, thats pretty impressive" but they don't, they just bitch about the imports being lighter, even though they are racing out a hollowed out piece of aluminum, somethings you'll see a stock body

Because they come to race, that's what the car is built for.. RACING.

I still like when the POS Camaro raced agianst the hundred thousand GTO and the Camaro won.. before the camaro left he told the owner of the GTO "I'll race you, AND I'LL WHIP YO ASS!" and he did, it was hilarious

I agree that it was an awesome race, but that is domestic vs domestic, except it was a fast car vs a fast, expensive car, and they both had an idea of how to play that game, i am just saying that the imports don't get respect

but the guy that said the import guys are younger and can't play the game is totally right, they get hustled everytime, i mean i wish someone would just tell them "ok, in negotiations you know you want 5 lengths and the nitrous bottle, so when it comes time for the next negotation, be sure to ask for 12 lengths, cause you know the guy is gonna low ball you, then you work towards a minimum of 5, which is what you wanted and you might even get more" and when you start to kick is ass cause he is sandbagging, you keep hard on the gas and slam that brake

is it really that tough of a car, lose the first 2 by dumping the clutch in the beginning, sandbag the second one, ask for a shitload on your 3rd race and barely win (low boost and drag the brake), give up lengths for the second one and take out the bottle (even though the real bottle is hidden under the car) and win by turning up the boost and spray if you need too, and win the last one by going balls to the wall, full boost, full spray and give em hell

and that's the #1 reason the show sucks..... if you need 4 car lenghts, you shouldnt be racing...
if you need the other person to take shit off of their car... you shouldnt be racing.....

It still cracks me up when they are like "Yea.. We need 10 lengths and your bottle off, because that bottle is a big part of your car.. but ignore the fact that we were only 3 cars lengths behind you at the finish line, we still are gonna push for the 10 lengths."

did anyone hear when the full race team said that the bottle wasnt even hooked up? they used it for a bargaining tool. the only reason they lost is because they blew a coupler on the charge piping. the other team fixed it and sold it on ebay.

they had a show like that, hosted by the turbo brothers or some shit like that. each show they would get 2 new mechanics per team, only 2 teams, and 1 car for each. they gave them a list of parts they can put on and they only had like 2 days to do it or something like that. it was a pretty cool show i dont know why they took it off. they had 2 67' fastback stangs on there, one was built for all motor and the other was with nitrous, it was a badass race. did i mention that the team that won got both cars

do you really think that most of the guys keep the car or they sell it back to the original owners? Thats what I would do, say they have $100K invested in the car, I'd offer to sell it back to them for like $75K or tell them that I am going to part it out. I bet 95% of the time they would buy it back

the nitrous was never hooked up to the pink civic.. it never ran nitrous. the only reason it lost the last 2 races was because there a hole in the intercooler coupling, and it was loosing boost. I think it would've owned the rx-7 again and again if they hadnt blown that hole in the coupling.

I agree that they need to stop using civics against all the domestics. The 1st guy was a tool, the pink civic had problems, the hasport/full race crx was quick! I wouldve won regardless of if the VW flipped. If they started bringing some better platform imports [sti's, evos, rx-7, supras, TT 300zx, etc. maybe a skyline if anyone is willing to race theirs] then that would be well worth watching. I think the show is just trying to embarres and put down all honda owners.

the show isnt real at all, it's all bullshit. My brother in law knows a guy on his chevy forum that was "sapose" to loose his car because he was on the show (i dont kno what one because i dont watch) but its all a game and they keep there cars at the end. It's gay shit if you ask me.

And I remember on HondaTech awhile back they had the fattie who lost his 600hp civic to the trans am, and supposedly he had to buy it back for $300 since he wouldnt leave the new owner alone about it

This guy is 100% right, they need better imports and better civics, and the drivers need to be more professional. I think the lengths and negotiations is a good idea because it adds drama to the races, but the cars need to be a little better matched.
