I beat my friends Nissan, but that was obvious. His is like an 86. Well, today, my co-worker, who owns a Scion tC, wanted to race me. I have a 06 Honda Civic LX. Both cars are automatic. We raced three times, and all three times I lost. Not by much though, about a car, to half a car's length. It's sad to be beaten by one. You think with exhaust, intake and headers, I can beat her?

The tC's are kinda powerful compared to a civic. Plus, the new 06 Civics are big and heavy compared to the earlier Civics.

no I dont think I/H/E will win that race, the scion is a little lighter and has 20 ft lbs more torque

a 5spd with i/h/e you could take but nmot automatic, but i can tell you a trick if you guys race again, if you race from a light hold your foot on the brake and the gas, rev it to 2.5-3rpms and then when the light turns green let go of the brake and stomp that gas pedal

Or you could shift to neutral and rev up and drop the shifter into drive on green. Me and my friend used to f around with his dads huge white chevy work truck and we did so many burn outs in it by doing that. We rev'd pretty high too, like 4-5k.

NEVER do this. It's an excellent way to destroy your new car's (or any other car's) tranny.

agreed do not do it, it is less effective than putting your foot on the brake and revving wich is less damaging.

A lot of times just for fun, I would put my car in park and just rev the engine. Not for racing purposes or anything, but just to do it. I don't go any higher than 5 rpm. Is that actually doing damage to it?

No, revving it like that and putting it into drive to "launch" will do serious damage though. Revving it in neutral isn't a huge deal if you aren't going too high.

I have a 5 speed ek coupe with i/h/e and 193,500 miles. I beat a 5 spd TC 3 times yesterday. But, i think it was just the idiot driving. I cant wait to get my swap though. Then I might be able to actually suprise some gear heads around Houston

Was probably an autotragic, I drove a tC before, those things are quick if you get em in 5 speed, the autos are quick but the shifting is nothing as you already know
