I am looking at two cars for a project.
First is a 91 240SX SE. Been sitting in this guy's backyard for almost 3 years since I first saw it. He told me his brother in law would sell it for like $500. Body and interior ar in 15 year old car condition, and one window has been broken for a while.
Second is an MKIII Supra. I saw it in a junkyard, but there is no turbo. Don't know if it got sold, or if it was NA to begin with. Body is straight, but the interior and paint are shot. Guy at the junkyard said I could have it for $400.
Either one will take a lot of work. The 240 would get the GTR Skyline conversion, which I priced at $11,000 plus any mods I do. The Supra would get a total rebuild, which would be about $18,000.
What would you do?

Hmmm, there both great projects cars. Lookin at the pic of each of them, I say go with the 240. Nicer body style.

:D
I'd say the 240, too--mainly since it seems like it'd be cheaper ;)

I know I need pics, but my computer at home took a dump and won't work with my camera. If I get busted using this one at work I'm basically fired!.

I'm kinda partial to that Supra.
At 3800lbs it's kinda like that big girl with the great personality you used to know in high school. :rolf:
Seriously though, probably the S13. I would be concerned about rodents living in the car and chewing all the wiring under the dash though....I effin' hate rats :angryred:

No way a mk3 supra rebuild would cost that much. My buddys rebuilt 3 mk3 supras and they only cost around $1000 - $2000 for a complete rebuild, but really depends on what you need. If you're looking for a complete body over haul, good luck on finding those body parts, cause you won't. You'll need a doner (can't spell) car.
Then like most supra owners, you'll find the doner car is in better shape then the original so you'll build the doner and then end up rebuilding the first. Then you'll sell the first for a $500 profit and then realize you want something awd or less heavy and get an sti or evo. lol, trust me, Seen it a million times.

I hadn't priced anything out yet, but I was guestimating paint, interior, total engine/tranny/rear end, and PROBABLY rewiring the whole car... Don't think that'll all be very cheap. I just think the car is hot cuz I don't see a whole lot of them around here anymore.
Maybe I should just get the 240. With the AWD GTR conversion it should be a beast. But damn, it's a lot of green to drop at one time!

actually, I didn't take into account the paint and such. But Engine, tranny, even the rear end, shouldn't cost you over $1800 total.

Yeah, I have been talking to them about the conversion for a while, and they assured me it was very reliable, as well as fast. I was just about to get the 240 when I ran across the Supra, and it's just so sexy in my head all fixed up!

I wouldnt mind having the supra because not many people have them where im from but in another sense the 240 would be a nice car to rebuild also. I think I would probably go with the supra in regards that its less common from where Im at but thats just my 2 cents but I love the silvia conversion on a 240:drool:
