manufacturer controlled fuel and air metering? help!

now first off please forgive me cause im a 6th gen guy myself, this is my first time posting in 7th gen :D
but a buddy of mine is having a problem with his 7th gen ex coupe.
will not rev past 4,000 rpm
CEL is throwing a code saying "manufacturer controlled fuel and air metering"
i dont remember correctly but i believe it was P1258 & P1259

has anyone encountered this problem? or has anyone encountered any manufacturers codes for that matter?

i looked up that code and it said it had a malfunction in the vtec system..

hmm... i really dont know what to do at this point. cause although its a problem with the vtec system it still could be a number of different things

it could just be the solenoid itself restricting oil flow at engagement point.

i HAD te same problem for a short period of time, the car revs up to about 3500 or 4000rpm, and then it just starts revving the engine really high but the cars moving at the same speed.

my car did that too.. and found out i had blown head gasket and chip block and all this good stuff

^--- yea it could be the little screen in which oil passes through, sometimes theres so much build up going through your engine that when it goes through your solenoid itll clogg the screen and start to build up more and more.. and more..
