So an update on this thing. Finally got off my ass and started to demo my basement for renovation.

When I bought it.

Fixed a crack in the foundation.

Everything moved upstairs.

Demo time!
I'm no electrician but I don't think this would pass inspection...

Who needs a dumpster to do a renovation...

That wall is coming out and 2 smaller closets are going in with a built-in entertainment center in the middle most likely. Drywall floor to ceiling, new carpet, and recessed pot lights.

Floor to ceiling drywall or wall to wall carpet... never understood these statements, in the most literal sense.

Both. I am removing the cedar paneling on the walls and replacing it with drywall. The carpet will all get replaced.

Are you doing the work or are you paying a contractor?

If you, what kinds of woodworking tools are you using?
Dad and myself are doing it ourselves. For the most part we have been using basic tools. Table saw, drills (wood and concrete bits), wood glue, T-Square, screw gun. Nothing too fancy or expensive.

I've had some and my dad had the rest. He's be doing stuff like this longer than I've been alive. If he asked me if I had something and I didn't I would go out and get it. Hacksaw, large c-clamps, cold chisel, and mabe a few other things is all I bought but not really necessary.

I think the only things he brought that I didn't have were a chalk line and wood plane for a trouble issue with the existing studs.

Got the main ceiling done. Just one closet left.

Insulation on the back wall done.

Started on the first closet. Only got the ceiling and one wall piece up before dad cut the tip of his finger off...

Thanks. He's good. I found the chunk he cut off and joked about super gluing it back on.
