Should I get a Gates Racing Timing Belt?

Hello ClubCivic Members,
This is the first time I post something here. I have a 2004 Honda Civic EX and was told at the dealership I need to replace the water pump and timing belt. My neighbor recommended that I install a Gates Racing Timing Belt since it will last longer. I'm thinking about just doing it, but are there any tips or warnings I should know about?

Gates is awesome. I run it on my LS and have had no issues.

Yes gates is oem actually on many import motors. But no matter what people say about parts lasting longer all tbelts should b replaced at factory intervals. Unless ur racing at high rpms like autocross or drag racing u dont have to upgrade to such expensive versions of parts. Just always remember to replace the tensioner/pulleys every time

yeah like ekman said using this in a em2 probably won't extend the life of the belt if thats what your goal is.
