97 civic automatic transmission problem because of replacement

Hey friends I need help with my car. I replaced the automatic transmission in my civic with a known good one and I am not able to get it to work. I followed a manual for the job so I am confident that i assembled it correctly.

The symptoms: Park gear does not lock wheels, they spin slowly with the motor running. reverse also does not engage.

I know what gear the transmission is in because i have the cover off and can verify position

any ideas on what could cause this?

I think u got a bad/defective transmission or something is not hooked up correctly. The parking gear lever is in the transmission hence your parking break isn't hooked up or simple somethings wasn't hooked up to the right I believe most of the plugs are different so you can't mess them up. Sounds defective,could be wrong. Could be wrong about everything I said lol. sounds defective
