Continuing Alternator Issues 91 DX

My sister's 1991 Honda Civic DC is on its way to get another alternator. This makes 4 (or 5) in the last 10 years. Yes, an alternator every 18 months seems extreme to me, too. The battery was tested and is 6 months and under warranty. Car has 350K+ miles. We're having a qualified mechanic check it and replace alternator, but they never seem to look deeper.

Questions:
Is it common in this age and high miles?

Is there something deeper that would make alternators go bad so frequently?

Thanks!

Maybe you just have really bad luck with alternators. Or maybe there's something overloading it that makes it wear out over time.. try checking the fuse and see if it's the right size. Maybe there's a short and someone put in a bigger fuse to avoid a problem, in turn giving the alternator excessive load and wearing it out prematurely. I never dealt with that issue, just the most likely thing I can think of right now

Are you getting NEW alternators or remanufactured ones?
That's really bad luck though, that many over that short of a period.
