Oil change indicator percentage on dash

I just purchased this vehicle about a month ago and I am going to do my first oil change. I am going to put full synthetic mobile one engine oil in my car. I understand sensors pretty well, but I havent been able to find out information about what relays information back to my dash in regards to how much life my oil still has left. Is it going based off the amount of miles that I drive or the viscosity and life of the engine oil. I just want to make sure that I will be able to trust the sensor if im running synthetic in my car and dont want an early indicator.

There is a button on the left side of the dash that rotates through your trip/odometer/oil life information. Also when you get to the oil life just hold the button down and it will reset back to 100%.

Give it 10000 miles on there before change to full synthetic. Let the rings sit
