Instrument cluster question

Is it possible to use an instrument cluster that has a tachometer in a car that didn't come with a tachometer? The real question is, is there a way to make it work, or is a separate (external) tacho the only way?

Thanks.

All 96-00 is interchangeable and you should not have any issues. Even if its an automatic transmission, it will still work. It's all plug and play for this generation.

Thanks for the reply, whitesedan. So the cluster with the tacho will work in a car that originally had no tacho? I thought that needed some special wiring.

I believe that it is a straight plug and play, even if your car didn't come with a tachometer, you don't need to do any special wiring.
Could someone else confirm this?

You're overthinking it.
Remove old cluster, plug new cluster in.
Also 97-01 Crv clusters are plug n play too.
