Update. Took it to a Honda specialist tonight. He is also stumped.

Tried a different ecu, throttle body with tps sensor and activated tps when revving car. Checked vac lines as well.

Next move is to check fuel filter and fuel pump

check your fuel injectors to maybe clogging up. they open fully when you hit vtec

Have you ran out of gas since you purchased it?
Definitely check fuel pressure and change the fuel filter if it hasn't been changed.
Check your catalytic converter.
When you took the air lid off, did you also take the filter out and drive the car like that?

Haven't run out of gas yet. Only ran it to the fuel light once. Pretty certain it has a decat as well. No just the lid of the airbox. Kept the filter in it

Is you "Honda Specialist" actually diagnosing the problem?

I'm not trying to be rude but it sounds like your mechanic is throwing parts on instead of diagnosing your problem.

Your first step should be making sure it's running on the correct map. Sending your ecu out to be chipped or finding a local tuner to check/change the map is not a big deal.

None of these parts have been replaced as such. But have been fitted to try and eliminate the problems it could be eg tps sensor, faulty ecu
