'04 Civic LX auto: Traction issue

I've only had this car for a lil over a month now. It has 126,000 miles on it I just changed the oil. When I try to accelerate it either skids out or doesn't accelerate fast. I'm not a expert on cars and this is my first car I'd like advice if anyone has any on this issue.

So it peels out on one side? Does it always do it on just the one side? Is there any metallic noise when driving?

It doesn't accelerate fast because it's a Civic, though.

If the the wheels actually "skid", meaning it lacks traction, then your tires are probably bald with no tread. If you had mentioned any noise in the process then I'd suggest a transmission issue.

FYI, I tweaked your title to be shorter and list the issue. Otherwise, "2004 Honda Civic LX automatic" just sounds like your posting about your car and have no issue.
