I have a problem with my 99 civic si hope someone can help ok so I was under it a few days ago and noticed that my passenger side cv axle has a lot of play up down left and right where it goes into transmission I've looked thru Google but can't really find much about it it makes a clunking noise while driving....I done a drain and fill and b4 I left work most of the oil was on the ground coming out where axle goes in transmission...I know I need an axle seal but it shouldn't have that much play if it was just the seal rite? I don't know anything about manual transmissions so what could it be thanks for any help

Yeah, sounds like you need a new axle seal. If it's totally gone there's going to be play. It's also possible that the seal is pressed too far in, or the axle isn't fully in the transmission (though you'd likely feel and notice that).
