Looking for RL Trailing Arm - 99 Civic Si

I was in an accident recently that caused my rear left tire to get shoved under the car. The lower control arm is bent and the trailing arm is twisted. I have a replacement lower control arm, but I need to find a place to get the rear left trailing arm. The cheapest I could find is Honda...

91 Civic DX - not running, looking for community idea

    Compression test completed. #1: 67psi #2: 32psi #3: 20psi #4: 20psi Bunch of people I know locally say it's a blown head gasket, or messed up valves. Thoughts? :)

    exhaust rattle... helppp..

First things first, why the hell do you have 4" exhaust piping? That's standard on most TRUCKS Second, and someone correct me here if I'm wrong, 4" exhaust on a car will rob it of some of the back pressure required for it to run properly. Your 4" pipe is probably sitting on something under the...

91 Civic DX - not running, looking for community idea

I will follow that short guide tomorrow when I have more might and more time to take everything (including the lower timing belt cover) off to verify 100%. I have to replace all the belts and an alternator anyway, so it would give me the chance to do it, since I've already got the splash...

Where to buy OEM timing belt kit?

yeah, if you want to pay ~$30 -- $70 more per part. Go to an auto parts store. Third party companies make parts to OEM specifications, so they're just as good.

91 Civic DX - not running, looking for community idea

I owe Alaska a beer. Next time you're round Sacramento, CA, let me know. I'll buy you a pint. Timing was off by half a cycle (if that's how you say it) TDC was at the top of the exhaust stroke, not the compression. Which means, I've been cranking it (on top of whoever cranked it before me)...

91 Civic DX - not running, looking for community idea

Well, went and got a compression gauge. Went to do the check on the car, and the battery was nearly dead. Attached jumper cables with my father's truck and the jumper cables started smoking... so, no compression tests till I get the battery charged up.

    Running hot.. idk why

Check your coolant levels. Mine did the same thing. If an air pocket gets stuck on the temp probe in the engine block, it will read hot. Once you start moving at high RPMs, the water pump throws the water back through the system. Park your car on an uphill incline... it can be your front two...

91 Civic DX - not running, looking for community idea

This might sound odd or kind of stupid, but do you know how Honda starters usually have that "typical" sound? The one where you hear it and "someone just started up their Honda"? Would a compression problem prevent it from sounding as such? When I turn the starter, it just turns... it doesn't...

Are there any CC members in the upper Bay Area, California?

I'm working on a 91 civic that won't start and needs some work. Are there any CC members in the Vacaville/Fairfield/Suisun / surrounding areas that would be willing to meet up and help me with this thing? It's going to be my DD to and from school, without it, I have no way to get to school...

91 Civic DX - not running, looking for community idea

So I picked up a 91 Civic DX yesterday, only thing wrong with it is the motor doesn't run. So, I've been going through the troubleshooting steps to see what the issue may be. It gets fuel, it gets spark. No question about those two. My only question is the starter. I think the starter may be...

    Help with rebuilding camshaft...?

I tried. I didn't see anything about the order of the components on the rods or what went where, but after taking a break and looking at the parts a little more analytically, I figured out the sequence. I was just about to edit my main post. I still can't find how they go on in the manual...

    Help with rebuilding camshaft...?

91 Civic DX. Okay, I don't know the exact term. I was using the Chilton's manual to pull the camshaft out, and when I pulled off all the rocker arms, the spring tension blew the thing up all over my table. So, I'm at a loss trying to figure out what goes where. Does anyone know or have a...

1991 Civic - not running, easy(ish) fix. Worth the buy?

I went and looked at the car. It's in VERY good condition, zero damage, no faded paint... etc. 144K miles. I paid her 500 for it and made off with the car. I'm at home looking in the engine right now - the timing belt is INTACT, and I don't see anything wrong with the valves, at least from...

1991 Civic - not running, easy(ish) fix. Worth the buy?

This woman is selling a 1991 Civic for $525. She says that it doesn't run because "the timing belt blew out, and when it did, it warped all the valves in the engine." I'm going to look at the car tomorrow, but based on the community's experience, would this be a worthy buy? I don't yet...

Extremely difficult to start after driving...

I know... I can't really get any more specific because I can't explain explain it any better than that. Every ground in the engine bay was tightened not long ago, so I don't know which one it would be. As for a bad magneto... what does that control? The starter cranks strong as ever. It doesn't...

WTB: 99 Civic Si drivers side door panel

The top lip that hangs over the door frame is cracked in three places and I've no clue how to repair it. I'm looking for a brand new or used replacement door panel. I'm expecting a decent price - paying Honda 440 dollars for it is just pure ridiculousness.
