Another update: finally got the civic moved over to my buddy's garage and started tearing into it. All I have left to do is pull the axles and the motors mounts then I can pull the motor. When I pulled off the intake manifold, the intake valves and inside of the manifold are bad. Pics below...

Ok, so after a bit more research I believe I am going to pick up an H23A Bluetop longblock. From what I've read they rated the H23A at a lower HP than the redtop, but when mated with a 5-Speed tranny I'll be sitting at a higher HP rating than the H22A Euro-R Redtop. This is what confuses me...

The only reason I'd think about all motor is that it'd be fun as an autox car. But I'm already planning to get a smaller turbo on the 86 pushing 250-300 whp and that'll be enough for track days and autox. Big turbo should be lots of fun :yummy:

It was actually a lot of fun. We hung out for a while and talked then went out on some curvy country roads for about 2 hours. It really helped me get to know my car a lot better.
