Oil was perfectly fine, took off the solenoid and cleared the screen. Went to try vtec at normal operating temp and still had the odd scraping noise...

Have a decently used EM1 and recently Vtec will not engage. Rather engage there is almost like a scraping sound. Could the vtec solenoid need to be replaced?

It's not that I don't think I can do it but between pre med classes and two jobs I simply don't have the time I need to give it the appropriate attention to every detail.

Well my feeling is that if your going to rebuild some of the motor might as well go all out. Did the same thing with my LT1 camaro when the head gasket blew, while new oem rotating assembly.

The motor has 143,000 miles and my assumption is that the kid that had it before me wasn't the most keen at maintenance.

Last night right after giving vtec some love, I had the engine light blink at me 3 times. I've looked this up and others say that it could be cylinder misfire. No rough idle at all, light has yet to come back on, earlier today I cracked vtec again and no engine light.....any ideas?
