Heating issues with '96 civic - replaced mostly everything

Most likely a blown head gatsket. You don't need to see oil in the coolant. It's the compression stroke forcing air into the coolant system. There are ways to test for this but require specialty tools.

    2014 SI barely running

Where are you getting the alternators from? I have seen in nissans where aftermarket alternators will not work for long.

Problems with P0505, two codes showing up?

From my experience, gas eats or softens most forms of rtv or silicone. Due to the injectors being so close and gas passing by the gasket I wouldn't think this would be a lasting solution.

Problems with P0505, two codes showing up?

I would try this first. I have used this method and found too much air through my fitv.

Problems with P0505, two codes showing up?

You can also pinch vacuum hoses, using needle nose pliers, going to the intake and the idle will drop lower if you find the ciurcut introducing to much air

Problems with P0505, two codes showing up?

Suspected external vacuum leaks can be identified by spraying carb, or throttle body cleaner in the suspected area and the idle will increase drastically.

Problems with P0505, two codes showing up?

Oh. Ok. Obviously a high idle is due to to much air entering the engine from some where. oh ok. Boofoo has more knowledge in 6th gens than I do. I would obviously makes sure the throttle body is not being held open by the cable by disconnecting the cable from it or checking the slack of the...

Problems with P0505, two codes showing up?

Ok. Ihavnt worked on, or even set eyes on a y7 or y8 in prob 10 years. In the second pic, what is the hard plastic line across the intake labeled pvc that is joined 2-1 by what looks like heat shrink. What is that going to? Just curious. You swapped intakes to the new motor, did you use a new...

    Fuel leak,need quick fix

I say this because if their are unions and new line going towards the top of the tank, that means someone has been in there doing repairs and not using factory parts. Which means there is no telling what they did up there without removing the fuel pump access panel and having a look.

    Fuel leak,need quick fix

You gotta find out what's leaking exactly before you can buy parts to fix it.

    Fuel leak,need quick fix

You will need to remove the back seat bottom and remove the access panel under the seat. It's not to difficult. Could be the hose coming off of the top of the pump or could be a rusted out hard line. There is a fuel feed and return hose and hard lines in that area.

    Misfire

    Sorry I mentioned it.

    Misfire

I did mention that is an option also. Then it would require additional tools to check the condition of spark. I did say it was ghetto but is quick and requires no tools. I have never seen or even heard of a coil being destroyed in this way. Not saying it can't happen, just haven't seen it.

    Misfire

I can see where that is possible. However I, and many other techs have used this method for many years without destroying coils. On hondas you just slide the wire up enough to where it arcs to the plug tube. This same method can be used, unplugging injectors instead of plug wires. It is just a...

    B20 vtec build

No luck. Drilled out bolt and I can still not extract the remaining steel from the bolt. Gonna try my luck tomorrow with a tap

    Misfire

Sounds like a coil or igniter to me. You can get ghetto, and when it misfires, unplug one plug wire at a time and see if it gets worse or doesn't change. If it doesn't change, you have found the cylinder with the problem. Then swap wire, plug, injector, one at a time from the bad cylinder to a...

    B20 vtec build

I think I will try to post things I'm doing in my spare time. This is the first project. Gonna build a b20 with a gsr head. Prob drop it into my 95 si. Gotta start with fixing the problem with the motor. T-belt tensioner bolt broke off in the block. This will be fun trying to extract it.
