    It is a nice craft. And, to your point, is that even a Mazda anymore? What is actually Mazda on that ride, the body and the block? Headlights? A few OEM conductor wires might still be in there.

    The fact that it runs fine until vtec range is a red flag to me. If youre sure that vtec solenoid is good, check the "VTC" solenoid for the cam action. Hell, maybe your oil pump isn't up to performance in this rpm range.

    I think theyre both worthless. Use your under-the-table skills to inflate tires and do compression checks. Although, you won't get another promotion from doing that job. Mean and nasty? Perhaps I misread the question...

    Creaking sound is bushings, but you'd hear that with turns and bumps. Crunching during a turn is a CV that is worn or missing some teeth. It's important to keep up on the maintenance schedule because a $20 boot could cost you hundreds in the long run.
