I had this issue and it was so easy to fix. Pull the circuit board that is behind the speedo out and pop it in the oven at 425 for 10 minutes. I found this gem on another forum and was pretty doubtful but I s**t you not, it worked.

Well, the thing is, the CEL light is not on. A friend hooked his reader up to it and guess what, no codes.

2000 DX hatchback 260,000km. It has a misfire. It was misfiring last spring so I replaced the plug leads, cap & rotor and the misfire went away. Update in case anyone else wonders. They fit, however, there is a bump in the road at an intersection that if I drive regularly. I drove my daughters car and notice that if I go too fast with the wheels turned fairly sharp and hit the bump the front tires rub for an instant.
