What to look for in a VTEC solenoid

Yeah, I did that and the level looked good. A little low, but I went down to Honda and picked up a quart so it's fine now. I hate going to the dealership to buy that stuff 'cause it's so expensive, but Autozone didn't have any in stock. When I get some free time, I'm gonna check the zipper...

What to look for in a VTEC solenoid

I just popped the VTEC solenoid off my car, and I was wondering what I should look for. Everything looks really clean, the screen was clear, and that's about it. The VTEC on my B16 isn't working, and I can't figure out why. No CEL, oil level is good (not sure about the perssure, I don't have...

    Oil Light = How Low?

The lights not on, I'm just wondering if the oil gets too low, will it cause the VTEC to not work? I've only had the oil light come on a couple times and it's only been if I break really hard. It'll come on for a second or two then go back off. I immediately add oil if I ever see that though.

    Oil Light = How Low?

That would also cause VTEC not to work on a B16, correct?

    Oil Light = How Low?

How low do you have to let your oil go for the oil light to come on? Are we talking one quart, two quarts left in the system or what?

    Bad O2 Sensor?

Car idles a little rough, runs rich and leaves black soot all around the exhaust on the bumper, misfires at idlle, doesn't sputter or hesitate but there is a little loss of power, and I get about 260 miles per tank.

    Bad O2 Sensor?

Anyway to know if a O2 sensor is bad and there's no CEL?

    Bad O2 Sensor?

If I have a bad O2 sensor, will it throw a CEL immediately after I turn on the car? My car's running rich and I can't figure out why. I changed the plugs and the fuel pressure is right around 47 which is normal, right?

    header and loudness ???

My car has a DC Sports 4-1 with stock exhaust and it doesn't sound any different than a factory B16.

    running rich?

I've got the same problem. I'm running rich, but there's no smoke during normal acceleration or WOT... Just a bunch of black soot around the exhaust on the bumper. I changed the plugs, but it didn't help much and my air/fuel meter acts pretty normal.

    Black bumper/Running rich/Bad for me

I've been getting a lot of buildup of black something on my bumper around the exhaust. So, I must be running rich... I changed the plugs about a month ago, and it ran good for about a week. I've been washing the rear of my car about every two days so it doesn't get too bad, and it's getting a...

    how to remove vinal stickers

It depends... On what setting the hair dryer is on, how far away you're holding it, if you keep it concentrated in one spot or move it around a bit... As long as you're not working on any plastic (i.e. bumpers), it's gonna be hard to mess up your paint with a hairdryer. Just play with it and pay...

    how to remove vinal stickers

Ooh... Those things are dangerous. I've messed up two cars with one of those things... One being my own. Best advice I can give is to use a hair dryer and slowly heat up a corner of the decal/lettering, then peel it off when it becomes soft. Some stickers will leave a residue, but you can just...

    Rubbing Compound

Pictures don't tell that great a story when it comes to the quality of paint. Red cars are notorious for lots of oxidation, but really clean up well when detailed properly. Chances are, you'll need to have the car buffed with a high speed buffer (not a thirty dollar wal-mart job). Buffing will...

    glazing and waxing... best technique?

Actually, I didn't make any assumptions. If I could just quote myself, "I'm not saying you're wrong..." I wasn't being sarcastic for once. I'm not questioning the quality of your work. I don't doubt for a second that your car looks fantastic. I also didn't make any assumptions about NOFX. I...

    glazing and waxing... best technique?

Yeah... And I was taught how to detail by a door to door salesman. What's your point? I was only giving you a hard time for telling someone not to give detailing advice when yours wasn't all that better. Putting wax on a section at a time and then removing sections as you go along is...

    glazing and waxing... best technique?

Actually, I use a brillo pad to wash my car so there usually isn't any need to scrub. But just in case of stubborn tar spots, I use a wire brush designed to clean grills. If that doesn't work, I'll use my own mixture of paint thinner and gasoline and a blow torch to burn it off. Then I take my...

    glazing and waxing... best technique?

I do auto detailing for a living, and at the chance of someone flaming me and telling me how wrong I am, here's my two cents... I find it interesting that you tell people not to give detailing advice, when yours isn't much better. Wax pad = Applicator pad. It's the English language. There are...

    Window Broke... Need Help

The window won't move. I can't put it down. The motor is still working because I can hear it, but the window won't move more than half an inch up or down. I'll just to have some more people look at it. I appreciate the help though!
