Are you holding the inside handle open when trying to lock the doors? Every Honda I've seen with power locks requires either all doors to be closed, or for the front driver's door handle to be held open. I can take a short video of the reaction in both 5th and 6th gen power locks.

It does take quite a while for the fan to kick on on my HX. I replaced the radiator in it about a year ago and had the same worry, but the fan kicked on when it needed to. Take it for a small spin around the block and come back, if the fan still doesn't come on... wait a while. Watch the temp...

the sticker on the driver side door jam should tell you the weight limit you can put on the car (assuming it's not modified)... but i wouldn't ever tow something with a civic. get a truck.

Coolant levels? Does your fan kick on? You could have air in the coolant system...

My dad's Sentra had the same problem. It ended up being a relay in the steering column on that car. I hope it's just a faulty relay for you and not a wiring problem.

Did a gauge cluster replacement myself on a 4th gen DX STD. I grabbed a cluster from an LX and it was plug and play. I had no tach before and the tach worked just fine when i plugged it in. Try a junkyard first, you may be able to get a steal of a price.
