hey guys..i was just cruisin around 8thcivic.com...
mainly because i sold the hatch and bought a 09 si sedan...either way...
i found this thread and i honestly couldn't believe what i was reading...
an auto...unkkk that...you couldn't give me the trans lol but the motor yes....i'd say take the head off inspect the pistons and valves and condition of the cylinder walls ect ect...if all looks pleasing continue with the following..unless you need to go to the machine shop with it
head...
without taking off the head? i hope is what you meant...;) like he said it is easy....disconnect the 1 and 2 pin connector from both the solenoid and pressure switch...remove assembly via 3 10mm bolts...replace with oil slighty around the new gasket...and dont get too much torque on those...
brake clean will not hurt your IACV but if anything i would recommend a TB cleaner...just to set you at ease.. (BG makes a good TB cleaner) or even just blow it with shop air..make sure that gasket is good as well..you shouldn't have a problem with it though.
in my personal opinion....a piggyback will not give you good gains with your setup...you need more tunability..with your cams you need something better such as hondata, crome, ect.
i've seen stock LS bottom ends with B16a head make 176 whp with one hell of a tune...reliable..i really don't think so.
i'd say if your looking for 250whp with boost.. just go LS turbo...with the money you'll save by not doing LS vtec you can upgrade the LS' internals to handle even more power...
