flooring the accelerator at that speed in 4/5th will flood the engine and fuel won't burn so you're gaining nothing and losing everything. you're much better off reving than having the floor the gas at any point. however, if the engine isn't laboring then you can cruise consistantly in any gear
only the 5th gear out of a very specific model/year LS gearbox will fit the B16, and they are pretty rare. Also it extrememly difficult and time consuming to do the 5th gear swap, and you'd pay a fortune if u got a transmission specialist to do it for u. its true tho, if u mate an LS tranny with...
No thats not true, this setup i'm considering is based on what components are readily available here in the UK, and the B18 head or any LS block is not readily available. However B16 and B20 components ARE readily availble here and very easy/cheap to get hold of. I certialy would build a B18 on...
do research?! yeah thanks, thats helpful, condescending noob. 42 posts, a stock d16 and 17" wheels certianly doesn't give u the right to say that i'm afraid. if u aint got anything useful to contribute, then don't post anything.
anyway, rant over. thanks to those who posted useful* replies...
defo not goin b16 gearbox again, too expesive on fuel and far too noisey. and b18's are too difficult to get hold of here as the integra isn't very popular. also, being as the b20 block doesn't rev very high, i'd probably only be able to reach 100mph before the rev limiter kicks in with those...
yeah it is remote central locking, but these are the yanks we're talkin to here, they say aloo-minum instead of aluminium, they refer to cars with a manual gearbox as having 'stick-shift', here we just know it as a car ;-)
Gettin annoyed with my hunk of s**t D15y6, wish i didn't crash my VTi . Now considering a swap for a B20 for some low end torque - and mate it with a B16 head, but keeping the B20 gearbox - cuz the stupidly short gearing on the B16 was the only thing that used to really piss me off on my...
I had a DOHC, now stuck with SOHC, and it f**kin sucks. Dont understand why people insist on converting their auto's to manual either, surely it would be more cost and time efficient to sell the auto and just buy a manual!
buy a different model. I was pissed off that my VTi was only just getting 310-20 miles per tank, so i crashed it and got a 1.5 SOHC LSi instead, which has super long gears, and gets me 400 miles per tank easy - even thrashing it! i do miss the extra 50bhp of the B16 tho :-( u can't have it all!
check your fuses, check your radio wiring loom to ensure that none of the wires have moved and caused a short circuit (i know u said it worked fine the previous night but surely it would be worth checkin again), finally i'd have a look at the earth points under the bonnet and makes sure they are...
you're unlikey to be able to replace the control arm bushing yourself without the proper tools and press anyway. that estimate does quite steep though! get another quote i say
Crashed my beloved EK4 (B16A2) on monday. i was pretty cut up about it cuz the engine was mangled n everything, and i'd spent quite a bit on it.
Anyway, 2 hours later I decided the best thing to do was to purchase a new civic ASAP to make me feel better, so I went for economy rather than...
colour matched ftw, looks much classier and cleaner. and when i say colour matched i dont mean white body with a black hood andfront lip with pink rims, i mean keep it all one colour
Called them and they said i've have to book it in for an "inspection" - which will cost me £30 - and this is just so they can tell me if i need to pay more to get it repaired or not. I don't think its gonna be free tho :-(
cheers, i'll give em a call tomorrow and see what they say. it does retract a little bit but not enough, but it does seem to be fine whilst driving, i.e. buckled up. either way, i'll have a word
