    3rd gear crack

You need to remove the transmission, then take the transmission apart gear by gear to replace the syncros. It is a big job and if you decide to do it or have someone else do it I would recommend replacing any syncro that has become worn down which is probably all of them. To do the job you need...

    Worried about mpgs

I get around 33-37 MPG on my stock 98 EX. I also just did a major tune up including a water pump that was giving a lot of resistance and starting to go when I pulled it out.

    Timing Belt Replacement

Alright I know that I have left this thread for a while but I wanted to post that yesterday I changed my timing belt, water pump, tensioner, many gaskets, and two of the three belts (the compressor belt will have to wait for another day). It feels good to have that finally taken care of but...

    Timing Belt Replacement

Alright so the Civic I have is at 85k miles and has never had the timing belt replaced in its 12 year lifespan so this spring or early summer I am going to change it. I have been reading on the forums that the OEM parts from Honda are the best way to go (if I am wrong and there are better items...

It made a big difference in my car. Mind you my car was throwing the code for a bad secondary O2 sensor but none the less it helped.

    brake rotors????

Are you looking to upgrade or just replacing the pads and rotors? If you are just replacing and rotors are still good you could always get them ground down, hell of a lot cheaper then new ones.

    changing spark plugs

Most spark plugs today come pre-gapped. Although checking that they did it correctly at the factory and that it did not change during shipping is very easy and well worth the effort.

    still horrible mpg's

What mods do you have on your car (if any)? Is your car throwing any error codes? Something has to be seriously wrong or changed to be getting 20mpg when most of these cars easily get 30+mpg.

    Keyless Entry Question

Boy I did not expect you all to have this much fun with my question. Thank you for the help, I think I will end up getting the leather cover that ALLSTOCKHATCH recommended, and at least I know I can buy one off ebay for cheap. As for the hair yes it is probably mine but it is not on a...

    Keyless Entry Question

When I bought the car I received two key-less entry remotes, both work but one of them is damaged (see pics). I would like to be able to attach it to a key chain, so what are my options? Should I... 1. Fix it 2. Buy a new plastic case (if sold separately, how much and where to buy from) 3...

How To: 98 EX secondary O2 sensor replacement

Quick update. The car runs great and went for a 400 mile commute earlier in the week. The gas milage inceased from 30 mpg to 36mpg, a very nice 20% improvement. Also the engine temp was noticably cooler and lower the entire drive.

How To: 98 EX secondary O2 sensor replacement

Alright so I got my O2 sensor replaced. I can honestly say that on all the cars I have worked this Honda Civic was by far the hardest vehicle to perform a basic maintenance task on. I also documented it with pictures and figured I would do a quick write up. 1. I drove the front of the car up...

Thank you for the help RonJ. I ordered a crow foot socket that I should be able to get over the O2 sensor and get it off. I will post pics and update how it goes.

    replace one tire is bad?

Good to know about Walmart. As for tires how worn are your other tires? I normally replace 2 at a time or all 4 but if they still are relatively new you can replace just 1. If you have another tire that is worn heavily then take this time to replace 2 of them.

How To: 98 EX secondary O2 sensor replacement

I have a 98" Civic EX and I have the error code P0138 coming up. I am fairly certain that the oxygen sensor is gone (it has almost 82,000 miles on the original sensor). I did not change anything else on the car and have not for several months when this came on. I purchased a replacement oxygen...
