My idling after a cold start is around 1800 then decreases to about 1100-1000 after a few minutes. This is when the gear is on park/neutral. Once I shift to Drive/Reverse, the idle stays at the 1000rpm level consistently. Is this a normal thing or something that needs to be checked? Is there...

So the 1800 idling at cold start is not normal at all? I've seen others that post the same idling... basically I'm not sure if I should head down the shop and have them check it or if its normal and I'd end up with the shop telling me its normal..

so you mean i can get it read even if the light is off right now? I called Autozone and the guy there told me that I should bring it in if the light is on and not now that its OFF. If I still drive around, would this further damage my car? What can the worst case scenario here? I have 1 car...
