'12 Civic, rear speakers failure

Plugged my iPhone into the USB port. Found out that the USB cable had a shorted wire. Now my rear speakers will not work.

I can use the fade and hear the front speakers with no problem. I use the balance and both my rear speakers are really really quiet.

Also, I know the problem occurred with the USB cable because I plugged same phone with broke cable in my 2015 Honda Civic and it killed the rear speakers also. I didn't know it was the cable at the time I put it in my second car...

Anyway, I think it may be a fuse or something. Both my cars are LX models and I don't think it has any fancy amplifiers.

Anyone ever heard of such?

Thanks Tom.

I don't believe there are any fuses for the speakers, though they may be connected to an amp. Not sure if the amp would power only the rear speakers. If there is no amp, the issue may be with the head unit itself.

Since you're heading very low volume from the rear speakers, it sounds like there is an amp, which is not being powered. Look for an amp / fuse for an amp, and check that out.
